Viewsonic vp2130b - edid is corrupt, unable to locate my backup copy, do you know where I can get one?

This summer I purchased an Aten CS1782 DVI KVM, I could get no display, I tracked the problem down to being an edid issue using Viewsonics EDID editor, Pheonix 1.3 & Powerstrip. I was able to read the EDID. It would only alow display in anologue, I managed to write the correction & presto! Everything worked perfectly, unfortunately I now find the same issue again, my backup is corrupt or lost and I don;t have the original either, help.

By original, I meant the Viewsonic EDID I was able to extract, read & modify in order to enable display with my DVI KVM. The monitor, when I purchased it came with a DVI-I cable, and untill I purchased the Aten KVM, I was completely unaware that I had yet to see a digital picture (duh), I thought, digital display monitor + DVI cable = Viewing Digital, nope. I had only been watching DVI-A, this is why when I set up the DVI KVM I had no display, because now I was using DVI-D cables. So, not being technically proficient, figuring out all this EDID stuff was very difficult for me. I would love to redo what I did this summer and edit the original Viewsonic EDID, but I am unable to extract a viable EDID from the monitor and as I said I have lost the backup I had saved. So, what I need is a Viesonic EDID for my vp2130b monitor, do you know where I might obtain one?

Nope. Because the EDID is corrupt, installing the driver comes up nada, it will suggest I use unsigned drivers, but this will not solve anything because the computer cannot read what kind of monitor it is. That's what the EDID does, tells the computer what kind/model of monitor it is.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I did a google for 'download monitor edid' and found a page at Viewsonic, not the one that Marked suggested, this one had a firmware update utility for a different monitor, a vp2290b, I figured maybe there might be some applicable files in so I downloaded it hoping my universal extractor could pull something out of it, nope, but it got me checking hidden files on c:\ and there I found raw data in the Powerstrip folder, I only installed it this morning, cause I re-did my drive 3 mos ago after the my first encounter w/ EDID. I guess there was a record someplace of my edid before it went bad and when Powerstrip was installed it pulled it in, I guess. So it was back to the drawing board, I'd forgotten much of what I'd learned the first time, I never expected to find the raw data and that was why I tried FixYa.com, without the data things were looking very bleak, to say the least. First thing I did was get out the Vsonic edid editor and re-figure it out, when you're entering the data check and recheck, not me, I went looking for another program, spent a couple hours, I heard there were others and tried a couple but couldn't get em' to work, so back to VS.E.E, must have grown some new patients, cause eventually I got it right. The checksum was ok and it made a bin for me, next Powerstrip. The freeware version won't write to the eeprom, only the registerd one, it costs a few bucks. Entech it's maker has a great freeware program called Monitor Asset Manager, once you've written a new edid to the eeprom, you can use it to read it and check it and save it if you got it right. I had to redo it a couple times. Finally reboot, hook up the DVI-D's and Yabba Dabba Do!! Here's a look at it in M.A.M., Once Again All's Well in Scudville!!

Oh yeah, once all this is done the drivers find the monitor no problemo, Cheers !! SCUD5963

It's not in Windows, it's actually a Monitor function.

On your monitor (Viewsonic vp2030b) there are five buttons below the screen. The last one is the Power button.

Press the button on the far left (has a "1" on it). Use the next two buttons (the up and down arrow) to highlight "Information". Then press button "2" (next to the Power button).

You should see something like this (these stats are mine):

    Resolution: 1600x1200
    H. Frequency: 75KHz
    V. Frequency: 60Hz
    Pixel Clock: 162 MHz
    Model Number: Vxxxxxx
    Serial Number: xxxxxxxxx

One other thing - You'll notice in the Menu there is an option called "Input Select". If you're having the same problems as the rest of us, changing this option will not help. For me, it tries to go Digital (black screen) and eventually switches back to Analog.

There is also an option in one of the submenus that allows ONLY a digital signal. Again, If you're having the same problems as the rest of us, changing this option will not let you see ANYTHING until Windows has booted (some of us never see anything then either). Also, this causes the monitor to perform too slow for most games (lotsa ghosting).

Again, these symptoms only appear with certain nVidia cards are used with certain monitors.

TOSHIBA MODEL 32RV530U WILL NOT TURN ON YELLOW LIGHT IN FRONT BLINKS 3 TIMES

This could very well be a problem with the power supply not allowing the TVs to start up but can also be caused by a problem with the TVs firmware. I would suggest downloading the firmware and following the steps from the following link. The download and steps are in the firmware tab after clicking the link. Be sure that even if you have no picture while applying the firmware update that you under no circumstances remove power from tv for at least 15mins. This is to ensure the firmware completely loads. If you remove power while it's still updating the board may be corrupted. http://support.toshiba.ca/support/ceg/center/en/index.asp?p=32RV530U

I have a Sony kds-60A2020 with no sound or picture but what I get at firs on power on is 2 green blinks and then 7 red blinks

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

None of the codes are working to set up my xfinity remote to adjust the volume. Is there a code that isn't listed?

No as the codes listed are for the settings in the remote if the code listed doesn't control the volume you need to get an updated newer remote with all the newer code sets
As you may find that one code controls the channel and another may control the volume and will be unable to use them at the same time
