I have the same problem. I can hear with my headphone, but cannot with speaker. there is no problem with drivers or software. I opened the back cover and checked the speaker cable, but it was okay. no break cables, no folded. I don't know how to check if the speaker works or not. The speaker cable has four lines linked into the motherboard. Please anybody let me know what I can do with this speaker problem...

Go to "Start", "Control Panel", Administrative Tools, Computer Management, click on "Device Manager" on the left hand side and look on the right hand side. See if you have a yellow exclamation next to the "Sounds, Video and Game Controllers". If yes, double-click on the line with the exclamation and then click on the driver tab at the top. Click update driver and when it asks if you would like to to check the internet for updated drivers, tell it yes, this time only and continue. After this process, it should either download and install a new driver for your sound card or install the one that was shipped with your computer. If this does not work, please let me know and we will check the next possible problem.

Check the speaker cable going to the jack on the back of the computer, follow it to the speakers themselves, is there any pinch marks or deep folds? Also check the cable st the back of the speaker, is there a break in the line at the connector?

My altec lansing mx5021 speakers problem

The problem I have found is the contact glue between the back panel and circuit board inside the sub woofer. The glue becomes conductive after some time (2 years..!!) and needs to be scraped away from across tracks, you can tell the problem areas as the glue is pale yellow but goes brown and conductive over time. Good luck.

Compaq Presario v2000 ALTEC LANSING speakers not working

Hello,
The first thing that I suspect is that it couldn't locate the right drivers for installation. Still, I'd suggest that you try reinstalling the right drivers for you laptop. There's no harm reinstalling the drivers. Get the drivers for V2000 at this link, but you need to choose which OS are you using: Presario V2000 Audio Drivers. Take note too, that HP recommends that you delete your existing drivers first before installing the new ones.

The method of deleting and reinstalling can be found at Method 4: Delete and reinstall the original sound drivers of this LINK. That link includes the troubleshooting methods for audio/sound problems. You can go through the procedure that applies to you, but I'd still suggest that you do first METHOD 4.

Please let me know of your troubleshooting success by rating me here, or visit me at http://howtoresolve.blogspot.com or at http://real-online-treasures.blogspot.com .

Good luck and enjoy!

Hello

because the audio driver is not installed so it is looking for multimedia audio controller...

while the purchase of the laptop they will provide a manufacture cd which contains the drivers you must install from that ..

if you dont have the cd then you can download the audio driver from the below given site:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=500746&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=432985&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1098
