Try reinstalling your printer driver. Make sure that your printer driver matches your operating system.

Need help connecting my printer to my computerWhat's your problem?

turn off your computer. plug in your printer to power. plug the printer cord into printer and then into computer. turn on your computer. if you have the cd that came with it place it into the cd drive once the computer boots up. your computer should detect the new equipment and walk you through the set up wizard. if not go to the control panel and "add hardware" to tell your computer to detect the new equipment which will start the install wizard... good luck!

I have a Lexmark all in one x4250 ink jet printer and a new computer with windows vista. I cannot get the printer to print a whole page from the computer. As well, the print is often 2 or 3 lines on top of...

Go to the Lexmark site. More than likely if the unit is more than a few years old you will not find Vista drivers. Most manuf. have their hands full creating Vista drivers for current products and are making no effort to provide for older equipment. Be prepared to throw it away. It is a problem for many varient Operating Systems: XP64-bit, Linux, etc.

Usb / driver problems

First unplug all the USB devices plugged into your computer except your keyboard. Then reboot. See if your keyboard gives you any problem. Then go into the device manager of control panel and check the USB section. See if there are any red "X" or yellow "!" showing up there which would indicate a USB bus problem. If there is a problem with the USB, delete them all and let windows re-install them. But this may not solve the problem if it is driver corruption. In this case, you should just re-install windows XP over itself.

If there are no problems with the USB drivers, plug the devices back in ONE AT A TIME. I suspect that one of them will cause the problem. If so, it either needs a new driver or it's kaput.

Your CD Drive problem may be a co-incidence....

Hi, i have a lexmark x2690 and am trying to install but get an error message and it won't print at all ... not even at test page... it flashes ec1 and the cartridge light flashes but they are both...

Did you take the tape off of the print cartridge before you put them in? Did you install the software first then when prompted turn the printer on then plug in the printer (usb) cord to the computer? Did you go into the print control panel and activate the print cartridges that you put in there? Sometimes you have to tell the printer that you installed new print cartridges.

Emachine W3107, DSL won't connect

Hate to tell you this but . . . Turning off your computer isn't much help if you have a stike on phone or power lines not too distant from home.
Even many supposed surge suppressors aren't worth much for protecting electronics.
If you are in a lightning prone area, I would highly recommend the installation of a 'whole house protector' which is installed at your main breaker box.
The cost is typically <$300 US and they come with insurance for (mostly) $25,000 replacement cost.

Unless you go that route, I strongly suggest you actually UNPLUG your system and any other electronic items you value when you get the first rumbles - even then perhaps too late.

With the various failures you describe, I suspect your 'southbridge' chip on the system board is damaged. If this is the case, the board will need to be replaced at a minimum.
After that, you still don't know if memory, drives, keyboard etc. will be functional.

For a description of the typical internal PC layout, look at this:

CANON S200 PRINTER IS HOOK UP AND IS NOT PRINTING.

You probably did not set it up as a default printer. Heres what you do..

This is assuming you have Windows XP:

1. Click 'Start" and go to Control Panel and select 'Printers and other Hardware', or something like that based on your OS.

2. Click on 'Printers and Faxes', and select 'Add a Printer'.

3. That will open up a wizard. Click next and select the first option , which is 'Local Printer attached to this Computer'.

4. Now the wizard will search for any attached printers. Just follow the rest of the instructions and it should work.

Make sure that you have installed the printer driver and software first.
