Olympus WS-110/WS-210S Getting to the USB terminal

Dear Tech Support,
I just purchased the Olympus ws-110/ws-210S digital voice recorder.
I have read the owner's manual carefully, yet I cannot find instructions for detaching the battery compartment so that I can reach the USB terminal for computer use.
I pushed the release button and gently pushed the compartment but this does not work.
I notice tiny screws on the back but am reluctant to start taking things apart without instructions to do so.
I have broken things before assuming it was to be done that way.
Thank you for your help.

I can't get mine apart either. It doesn't even feel like they're meant to come apart. I'm pushing the release button but it doesn't make a difference at all..

The two parts are each shaped like L's. While holding the release button, pull the two parts away from each other.

CANNOT TRANSFER AUDIO FILES FROM WS-100 OLYMPUS VOICE RECORDER TO PC (Windows XP)

I wrote this for the Olympus VN-3100PC although it may work with this device as well.

Try this:

This problem can typically be solved by unplugging the device from your computer's USB port and plugging it in to another USB port on the same computer.

Also be sure you have Olympus Digital Wave Player installed and open with your Transfer Options set to Auto Transfer. To do this, follow the steps below:

Open Digital Wave Player > select Transfer from the menu > select Transfer Options > under Auto Transfer, check the box which reads "Transfer all audio files after detecting Recorder."

I don't know how to get to the usb port

the recorder comes apart by turning off and with one thumb on Olympus logo and the other thumb at opposite end, pull apart, exposing the usb port

check out the manual

My voice recorder won't turn on!!!

We had a similar problem (it wouldn't turn on), and it turned out that we hadn't taken off both layers of clear packaging from the batteries. It now works.

Write protection

Refer to your Owner's manual to re-format your recorder. Sometimes, recorder memory can become corrupted just as with any electronic memory media.
