If the set has a power button, try turning it on with that.
I suspect it won't respond to that either and the problem is really with the TV itself.
If it does have a power button and the set reacts the same, then either the power supply in the set or a circuit it services has failed. You didn't list the TV model number so we don't have enough information to even start with.
One last thing you can try is to pull the AC plug and let it sit overnight; sometimes circuits can 'lock up' and will respond again if allowed to sit and all its internals go to zero for a while.
