Keyboard and mouse not working

I reinstalled winXP pro and the keyboard and mouse will only work in safe mode. I can work with an external keyboard and mouse without any problems and I already tried the Fn-F7 combination. Any suggestions?. Thanks.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hook an external keyboard to the laptop, if okay! replace the laptop keyboard. If no change check bios setting to make sure the laptop is not disabled, and reset bios to factory default.

Number eight is not working in my keypad

Try restarting your computer and go to the safe mode. If the number 8 does not work then you need to reset the keyboard or buy a new keyboard for your laptop. If you have an external keyboard, you can try to check if number 8 in the external keyboard works.

try to boot in safe mode. press F8 several times before bootup, then select safe mode. better yet safemode with networking. and did you try hooking external kb and mouse thru usb? if it proceeds, try checking online for chipset drivers and touchpad drivers at http://support.acer.com/us/en/drivers_download.aspx

Delete the keyboard driver in the Control Panel and reboot. Windows will reinstall it. Then do the same for the mouse driver.

Acer Aspire 5050 won't run in normal mode only safe mode

Try reinstalling the ATI Southbridge Drivers. The AMD website will have a link (it's on the same page as the Catalyst drivers).

You will have to use version 9.3 as the Radeon Xpress series is no longer supported with 9.4 and up.

Keyboard and touchpad problem

seems like the board is screwed! or may be its just the keyboard & touchpad controllers, either way its a h/w problem since u've already mentioned that u've tried reinstalling windows and the problem still persists. i'd advice that you take it to service center.
