Question about Washing Machines
I recently purchased a Whirlpool Front Loader Washer for myfamily. A coin was left in the wash (a problem with 4 children).Resulting in damage to the front tub (531).
I have had the tub repaired by a commercial plastic welder. On completion of reassembly, I have faced a number of problems and waswondering if you could give me some guidance.
I have commenced the test sequence with the followingresults:
The temperature display remains blank
The drum speed LED remains on zero
The cycle LED remains on 'Drain Spin'
The test sequence appears to enter stepone only. When pressing the prewash button to advance to step three, itappears to enter step three but stops.
To test further, rapid cycle was tried with the followingresults:
The cycle takes some water (approx 2cmvisible).
The drum rotates a couple of times eachway.
After this the house mains circuit breakeris tripped.
LEDs appear to be OK as they areindicating drum speed and wash.
This appears to be an electrical problem. The onlyareas that were disconnected in the disassembly and subsequent reassembly were:
The two wires from the Motor (1200MCA 61), at the rear tub, and
The four wires at the Heating Element(240V, 531).
I labeled the wires to the heater element but my labels felloff. Could you please advise me of thecolour coding of the four wires to the heater. Is it possible that my current problems arecaused by an incorrect connection to the heater?
I would appreciate any advice you can offer

you may be right about the incorrect wire connection, since you get no error messages on the LCD display.
go to http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/wiring_main.htm and put in your model #. it will give you the electrical schematic.
you may need a technician for this one, if you don't know how to read a schematic.
