Question about Nikon D70 Digital Camera with 18-70mm Lens

1 Answer

Digital Nikon D70S - memory card removed while turned on.

Help please! My 5 year old removed the memory card from my digital Nikon camera but he turned the camera on first. I don't think he forced anything and the camera does still do a shutter release - but now it's not recognising the memory card. I have put another card in, but this doesn't work either. The LED display on top reads -E-  and the screen at the back shows nothing at all.
Can anyone advise if there's a way to reformat or anything that doesn't involve sending it off to Nikon? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks Nicole

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

Nikon > D70

See page 200:

Digital Nikon D70S - memory card removed while tur - 58f8a63.jpg

Try resetting the camera in this way first to see if it clears the problem.

The -E- means that the camera cannot detect that a memory card is present see page 199.

Check that the card is properly inserted (page 20) and as a last resort try formatting it (you will lose any pictures on it):

My camera will not focus and take a picture.. I am receiving a r07 on the top screen and nothing seems to be helping. Any suggestions?

"rXX" is the cameras estimate of how many shots legt on your memory card. As for other issue: Turn camera "ON" and remove battery while holding shutter button for about 30 seconds. Turn off, reinsert battery, turn "ON" then press hardware reset button on bottom of camera for about 2 seconds. Page 200 in Nikon d70 (do not know about d70s) manual.

After shooting I tried to playback the pictures I had just taken on my Nikon D70 and they weren't there. I turned the camera off then back on and am only getting an error message that says "This Card...

HI there if that card is too old then i suggest you replaced the memory card. Its may finish his life time memory capacity. If its new then remove the card and format it. After that use it. I hope your problem will solve then. Thanks.

Can a SDHC card be used with a CF card adapter in Nikon D70s?

You would have to get an SDHC to CF adapter which could be pricey and they are hard to come by.
