Re: 29" crt tv video and sound problem
Is it possible that the input to the TV is still good including cables and cable box or anything? If another TV works from the same input then it may be the TV settings like AV/video rather than TV channels. Check all this out. I hope it is something simple as that. Good Luck.

Look at the horizontal output transistor then the fly back transformer.Check ALL the voltages coming from the power supply. One or more of them have to be missing for the audio and video to be gone at the same time.
If you have sound on AV mode and no sound on channels then there is something wrong with the setting in sound system function, you can do this using your remote, find a setting some where on sound and you will have to change frequency to get good sound.
The power supply regulator section of your JVC tv has got damaged. It outputs more voltage than normal to that is to be. There is so many reasons for that, including faulty capacitors and faulty regulators. Loose or bad solderings in the power supply section also may cause this type of fault. To retify it, just open your TV, and resolder all the suspected solder points in the power supply regulator section, by applying a little more soder. In most cases this will solve the problem. If not replace the power swithcing regulator device.

You need to find out why the set is blanking the video. In order of being common:
1. AKB circuit. AKB circuit is seeing a very unbalanced crt and
blanks the video. To fix replace the crt.
2. Loss of vertical deflection.
3. Problem on the data or clock lines. If you can change channels and the volume, this is ok.
4. Loss of h-sync return pulse to the micro or jungle ic.
