Ipod Touch 2nd generation won't connect to secure WiFi

My new touch will not connect to my secure network. The network is found but after entering the correct password, it shows unable to connect. I can view unsecured networks without problems. I have a D-Link router and my laptop and Xbox connect just fine.

I have the same problem - I can connect to other networks - but haven't been able to connect to my secure network at home. Finally got the iPod to see the network - but not sure what password to use - have tried several options and always get an unable to connect message.

SOURCE: ipod touch won't connect to wifi

There's a possibility that the password that the network was asking is the 'network key' (e.g. WEP or WPA-PSK). If this is the password that the network is asking for, you need to contact the administrator of that network and ask for the Network Key, because that network is secured. They put this kind of security to prevent unauthorized users to connect to their wireless network.

Password for wifi 2wire17

The iPod changed the face of the music industry.
Through Apple's device, the use of MP3 music players became a widespread phenomenon, and remains the standard mode of mobile musical enjoyment today.
Its interface was easy to learn and use, and you could store several gigabytes' worth of songs into the device.
Eventually, as new iPod models came out, mobile movie and picture viewing became much more accessible.
With the release of the iPod Touch, another feature was introduced--the ability to connect to wireless Internet.
If you own a 3rd Generation iPod Touch, it's easy to get your Wi-Fi working.
Go to "Settings" and find the Wi-Fi selection. Turn Wi-Fi on.
Wait as the Wi-Fi will detect possible networks connections within range.
Look for the network you wish to connect to and press it.
If it's not on the list, go to "Wi-Fi," select "Other" and type the name of the network.

If a password is required, click on the "Security" option, select the type of security, enter the password and press "Join."
You may have to pay a fee before you can establish a connection to a secured network.

Press the arrow button beside the name of the network to adjust the settings.
The network may have other requirements such as entering a client ID or static IP address.
The network administrator should be approached for these details.

Monitor the Wi-Fi icon at the top of the screen.
The more bars that are highlighted, the stronger the signal.
Get closer for a stronger signal.

How do I find the password of the wifi I'm connected to on an iPod touch?

It is not possible to see again the wifi password that you have typed on your ipod touch. Once it is typed, it is automatically saved in your device. And as soon as you turn on the wifi switch it will automatically connect your device to that password of the wifi network. You can have the password back if only you have also used it to your laptop.

Hello, I've just bought an ipod touch and cannot access my internet without a password. How can I find these out without changing them ? What are IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS, Search Domains,...

I had exactly the same problem with a brand new 3rd gen iTouch. It showed it was connected to my wifi network but wouldn't access anything (invalid argument etc). I tried everything but no joy. Eventually I fixed it by changing my router's encryption from WEP to WPA2-PSK. Fixed it like magic. Where there had been no router or DNA data before, they were suddenly filled in. The key was different but was still on the bottom of the router. I had to re-enter the key on my wireless laptop2_bing.gif but that was a small price.

You can get into the router set-up page through your web browser. I found a guide on You Tube.

Good luck!

I cant get my ipod hooked up to my roter and wii

This is first assuming you are talking about an IPOD Touch. You first have to have wireless connectivity. Once you have wifi go to:

1. Touch Settings

2. Touch Wifi

3. Turn your Wifi ON

4. Select a Wifi network

5. Enter the WEP Key you have created on your router (assuming you have secured your network).

6. Hit Connect

Do i need to be in a wifi area to get wifi on my ipod touch?

Yes, you definitely need to be in range of a Wireless router. I wish Wi-Fi was like phone service where you can get it anywhere you go, but that's not the case.
