Question about Gaggia Platinum Vogue 90800 Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Leaking 1 month old machine, has made approx 75 cups of very good coffee. Started leaking today. Leak is somewhere between the pump and the boiler i would guess. Water comes out of the bottom rear of the machine when the pump comes on. Water is cold, not heated yet. No water gets to the ground coffee and dry grounds are ejected. Unit is still under warranty but I live in a remote area and the dealer I bought from is 600 miles away. Are repair manuals available for these types of machines, and where do you get parts? Warranties are all well and good, but at today's fuel prices, and my time it would cost as much as the machine is worth to get it to the dealer. Shipping is not a very appealing option either as there is a high likelyhood of shipping damage and shipping costs to consider.

Hi the cup warming tray is very hot to the touch and steaming a lot???

The cup warming tray works by sitting directly over the main boiler. If there is something wrong with the cup tray there is probably something wrong with the boiler.

If there is lots of steam coming from the top of the machine you may have a leak. Check for puddles under the machine as well.

Leaks
Coffee leaking into the drip tray could be from the brew unit or the front door assembly. Water leaking probably means a hose connection to the boiler has failed. Don't just leave it, fix leaks immediately. Besides the electrical danger, the rust on working parts from long term leaks can be extensive.

Are you confident? Operate the machine with all covers off to see where the leak comes from. Be extremely careful, ready to pull the plug at any moment. Touch nothing inside! Burning, scalding and electrified! Check both boilers very closely while making coffee, most leaks become obvious on close examination.

Most leaks are due to failed o-rings in the connectors at the end of the teflon hoses, usually at the coffee boiler. Replacing the o-rings should stop the leak.

Source replacement o-rings. Slide the hairpin c-clip out of the side of the white connector and pull the teflon hose out. Fish the old o-ring out of the connector with a small hook or point if it didn't come out with the hose. Place the new o-ring over the end of the hose, snug against the brass collar. push the hose back into the coupling being careful to go straight and true so as not to damage the new o-ring. Some force may be required, be careful not to kink the hose. Blunt needle nose pliers to push the rear of the brass collar usually does it. Replace the c-clip and test for further leaks before reassembling.

Our 7 year old Saeco Magic Delux has started to leak water when we fill the tank. It runs out of the bottom of the tank and down the side. Happens about 20% of the time. Is it worth having a 7 year old one...

If I understand well the problem is only with tanks valve which means the spring have become more soft and stays a litle open so you have water leak. It maybe because some scale or dirt keep it open some time.
In order to decide if it wise to fix it or not the answer is simple if you have a good coffee result in cup which means that the grinder grinds good, presure pump work good and boiler heat up ok then you will only need to complete descale the machine and replace only small cheap parts and you will have a very good machine again for some more years. Remember a brand new machine will do the same espresso like yours.

Saeco stratos coffee maker started to leak inside the machine. I have cleaned the unit recently. It has been working flawlessly for the last 3 years, and I have brewed about 3600 cups. The water leakage...

HI
There are a lot of things that can cause the machine to leak.
You could have a fitting or tube that is broken.
You boiler could be leaking and needs to be replaced.
You could have a hose connection that has come loose.
You could have a bad seal at a connection.
Until you get inside you will not know? You might want to have someone look at it for you.
Scale is one of the major causes for machines to start leaking. Make sure that your water hardness is set on 4, so you descale more often than not enough, to prevent leakage in the boiler.

EAM 3400 Internal Leak

Mine started leaking too. I took the machine apart and cleaned everything. (if your at all mechanically minded it is very, very simple to take apart). Still leaked. I ended up leaving the top off the water dispenser and the leaking water goes right back into it! Don't know if your leak is that "lucky". Just thought I would share.

Saeco Incanto not grinding

Hi Chris,

The leaking is your steam valve that has to be replaced, you can see this if you open the door and look up in the right corner there you will see water drip.

If not then you have a pipe or boiler leak.

How old is your machine?
How often do you descale the machine?

When you try to make a cup of coffee, starts the grinder for two seconds or is it dead?

Hope this will help you.
