Let me get this right. I purchase a game for my kid. It clearly has a programming error that is build in and designed to get to this site and further designed to get the purchaser (me) to purchase something else that will make the game work. This new purchase is double the cost of the game. Nice gimmick. Caveat Emptor.

System restore does not work vista

System Restore does not work? Why not? What type of message are you getting?

Were there any Restore Points created?

Are we talking System Restore or System Recovery (to factory settings)?

System Restore works within the windows environment and does not cause you to lose any data. You get it started by clicking Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and then select a Restore Point (date and time) before you started having problems. It does not delete any of your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was installed after the restore point you selected).

System Recovery on the other had deletes everything. It sets your system back to the point when your first purchased it. Most times you need to read the manual on how to get the Recovery started. Hopefully you have a Recovery Partition on your hard drive that was setup by the manufacturer because trying to recover from disks that you created don't work most times.

g'day!

if you are talking about a webcam. you need to have driver installed in your computer. usually the cam comes with a CD. which contains the driver for the camera. all you have to do is put it in the CD drive and just follow the instructions displayed and your cam will work perfectly.

cheers mate!

My emachine keeps giving me messages that a virus has been detected however the program that gives me the messages is not installed on my computer. How can I stop this problem? Now it has started...

You need to pull the hard drive out and scan it with another computer.
You can get simple IDE/SATA to USB cables here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002 of you can just open up and connect the HD in the inside of the other computer
I reccomend AVAST! for virus scanning purposes. www.Avast.com

My Acer Aspire 3680 is extremely slow, breaking up, giving error messages. Started yesterday but has gotten continually worse since then.

Have you installed any new programs recently?
Definitely sounds like spy-ware or a virus, check your system out. If you don't have anti-virus software installed, go here:http://shop.trendmicro.com/trialpay/
and run the anti-virus scan. I'm guessing you've got an infectected PC. For a free anti-virus program, you can go here: http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition If after running the anti-virus scan your machine doesn't run better, please post back for more suggestions and best of luck to you!

Removal of antivirus xp 2008 virus

My next suggestion would be to use the system restore feature... go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore.
Follow the prompts to roll your system back to a date BEFORE you started getting this error and the issues began. If you are pretty sure when it began, go a few days before then, if not make a best guess, and go 2-3 weeks before that.
You will not lose any files you created, or any programs you installed, but it will clear any programs and viruses that were installed without user interaction.
Let me know if this takes care of your problem... Thanks!

I have just installed Norton 360 but cant open it from my desktop. Get an error message about a DLL problem

Try uninstalling from add remove, then go here and use the removal tool to get rid of it all.

If your looking for a good virus program, use Avast or AVG , they are free to use and won't drain your system.

You also didn't say what the .dll problem was from, so guessing it was a bad Norton install.

Won't read dvd

i'd say that this is caused by whatever program was used to do the DVD backup..you'll need same program, to most likely unencrypt that data, no?
