Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

hi there, here's the step by step procedure for reformatting.

1. insert the recovery disk first to your cd rom
2. restart pc and keep on tapping the F12 key
3. once you are prompted for boot options select your cd/dvd rom drive

your computer will now boot up from your cd rom and will initialize the setup.

Averatec 5100 series. the disc drive makes some clicking and other noises, but will not play disks. They are spinning some when I open it up. I am trying to play the recovery disks and can't

It is NOT NORMAL for a CD-ROM to experience any of the below symptoms.
  • No noise
  • Clicking during accessing the CD-ROM.
  • Noises when the CD-ROM is not being accessed.
If you are exhibiting any of the above issues it is likely that the CD-ROM drive is defective and it is recommended that it be replaced.

I have a averatec 5110H notebook, when i power-up i am asked for a password(a large blue box) when i enter my password i then get (setup warning - invalid password----continue------system disabled 00000 ...

It is bios password.
Now if you forgot it then you have reset your bios settings.
For that you have to open back cover of laptop.
Then find motherbord pull CMOS cell from motherbord for 10 minutes then put again to it's position.
Then it not ask for password.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

I want to clean up my Averatec 5110H, so all that's left if Windows XP. What do I need?

If you want a fresh start, start the computer with the XP disc in the CD-ROM. When prompted, click on install XP, and when you get to the point where it asks if you want to format the HDD, click yes to full format, and then install XP

Trying to run recovery disc on computer and cd rom isn't reading

I see this as one of 2 possible failures.
  1. Optical drive failing. Take out the Hard drive, see if the recovery disk, or another bootable disk will boot. If no change, replace the optical drive.
  2. Hard Drive failing. If the system will boot to a CD with the HDD out or if replacing the optical drive has no change, then the HDD is the next logical failure point.

Attempt to turn on computer, no OS install windows

Marginal hard drive, hard drive cable, or hard drive controller (on motherboard).

Other suspect parts may be the CD ROM drive you're trying to run the OS install from. It may also be flaky, causing you to think you're loading the OS, but not really and not reporting errors until you discover the OS is not completely installed.

First thing to do is pull the HDD and cable out, reseat firmly and try again. May as well do the same for the CD/DVD drive.
