42 in dell plasma, no picture, sound works fine

I have a 42 in dell plasma that is less than 2 yrs old, w4201c; the other day the picture went out but the sound works fine. dell was no help. i've been told that the problem is either the fusible link or the y-main board. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem with my W4201C. It has been sitting in my basement collecting dust since March. Any luck with a solution? I thought I would hit the boards and see if anything new has surfaced.

i have same problem no picture no sound for my dell w4201 42'' no solucion x dell company

the problem was the y-sus board, i had a local tv repair shop diagnos that much for me. although, he couldn't fix it i did some research and found a company in california,, who could. you send him the y-sus board and the two buffer boards and he not only repairs them but he upgrades them. apparently the y-sus board gets too much heat and eventually goes out, sometimes the buffer boards are affected too. replaces the components on the y-sus board with better parts which are more heat resistent. i believe this will help you with your problem. let me know...good luck.

between the local tv repairman to diagnos the problem and the cost to repair the parts by itritek and to ship the parts out, it was less then $520-much cheaper than buying as new tv. but if you're handy or know someone who is, you can probably pull the parts out on your own; the y-sus board is usually the main culprit.

W4201C no picture only sound

Try to use dvd player to play video to determine where the problems goes wrong either from the video signal of the cable provider or from the TV itself.

Please let me know any update.

Picture is fine for about an hour then goes fuzzy

Hello Townsend, It sounds like a problem called blooming, or you are having a problem with focus control which are signs of a problem in the horizontal and high voltage section of the tv in the case of plasma TV this would be the excitation circuit. I would suggest that you take the set to a TV repair shop to effect repairs.

Dell 4201C Plasma 42" -

Hi, Mary.

This sounds to me like it is a bulb issue, and not something worse, like failed capacitors.
If that is the case, then yes, it is worth repairing it.

You need to get the old bulb out, either by removing it yourself, or by having someone take it out for you, and the take the old bulb to Fry's or BestBuy.

They both keep tv projection bulbs for flat screen tv's in stock.

I hope that I've helped you understand what is going on, and that it helped.

Have a nice day, and good luck.

Help - 15 mth old 42" edtv "plasma" black screen" have power and sound

First thing to check is if the back lighting has just failed... Power the set on and looking across the screen can you see a shadow of a picture happening? You might even use a flashlight to shine directly at the screen while you look at it from an angle.
