Question about Video Game Consoles & Games
Try get a refund from the store,or try sending it in to sony.If it has custom firmware,I'm not sure if it voids the warranty. If your warranty has long been pasted,i think you can send it in for repairs, but for a fee.It would be cheaper than buying a new PSP.

You should check to see if another UMD will work first. Also try them in another PSP. If your sure your PSP is not reading Discs, then and only then, Clean the Laser lens carefully. Using a strong flashlight and magnifying glass, look into the UMD drive with the UMD door open and look for debris like hair or lint, and also dirt and dust. A black switch pokes up on the left inside the UMD drive. Its a little black stick. When you press down on this Black stick, your UMD disc motor should spin for second or two. The UMD laser lens should light up when your press this switch. If any of this does not happen, you need to replace the UMD drive. If you need someone to do this which if you have never done it, you need some knowledge big time.
I can do this for you if you're in the USA for $55 including a New UMD drive, REturn Shipping, and 90 day warranty. Contact Repairtech@playstationclinic.com
