Question about Philips 42MF230A/37 42 in. Plasma HDTV

Open Question

Panasonic TD-50phd5 I had a problem today with the dreaded flashing red LED on the front panel. I found out it may be a bad fan, so I opened the unit up. All fans were working and the problem went away, so I closed it back up and rehung it on the wall. Now, I am getting a condition where the full screen displays the picture, but about 55% of the picture is perfect and 45% of it has some kind of blue artifact over it. With no signal input, 55% of the screen is black and 45% is a sky blue. What happened?? Thanks for any help you can provide

SOURCE: tv will not turn on--- flashing red led

You will need to take the TV in for repair. The red light is the TV's way of telling you the protection circuitry has been tripped. There is most likely a problem with the power supply inside the TV.

SOURCE: Philips 42 in. Plasma shut down

The LED blinking 7 times is a code to tell the service tech what is wrong with the TV. From what I've read at other sites it sounds like there;s a good posibility that it is a power supply gone bad.

You probably should call a TV repair shop for assisitance.

Samsung TV (model UN40H6203AF) 40" LED. No picture, have sound. Flashlight test can see faint menu screen. Have replaced power supply & main boards to this point. Ideas as to what to do next?

Hi Terry,

If you can see the faint picture in flash light means the power supply and the main board is working. The real culprit is the backlight. Even one bad LED in the backlight will switch off the whole array. To repair this fault the panel has to be opened and the defective LED or LEDs are to be replaced.

This is a complicated, delicate and risky job and must be attempted by an expert only. You may end up damaging the screen permanently if you have not done it before and try to DIY.

My Panasonic PT-60Dl54J tv shut itself off and the power button is now flashing red 6 times. What has happened, how do I fix it?

This is straight from the service manual (I'm not sure what the problem is but it sounds serious):

8.2. Power LED Flashing timing table
When an abnormality has occurred, the protection circuit operate and cuts the power supply. At this time, the defective line can be
identified by the number of flashes (red) of the power led indication at the front of the unit.

1 LOAD SHORTAGE 92
2 OVER VOLAGE 93
3 FAN SOS 94
4 MAIN 3.3V 88
5 LAMP DISABLE 61

remove back panel. blow out all the dust from all the components except the fan on the right.
Vacuum out all the dust.
Have you replaced the lamp? that would help too.
There are 2 small red lamp. One indicates HEAT problem. The other one is the LAMP indicator.

LG LCD TV Standby Light Flashing Red Continuously

I have had this same problem twice in the past 3 months. So far both times I've been able to get it back after a week or two. I'm not sure what works, but unplugging and detaching the antenna and cable and waiting a few days seems to be the key. In both instances, I unplugged it for a few days then plugged it in for a few days and repeated the processes until I eventually got the steady red led. Both times prior to the red led the led would flash red then green and make a clickiing noise for several hours before I was able to get it working again.
