SOURCE: blackburn atom 4.0 does not read speed

The magnet has to interrupt the pickup and the transmitter communicates it to the computer, so settings are irrelevant for basic function.

Take the computer off its mount and hold it closer to the transmitter to see if that helps. Then take the magnet off the wheel and wave it by the pcikup to see if that helps.

If neither works, consider that weak batteries in either unit can cause it to fail. Some units also have a minimum and maximum distance within which they'll work.

For some reason the ydon't have a download for the manual at the Blackburn site.

Give this a try, as they probably settled on some basic constants in their design.

You don't want to guess. Every tire varies from the nominal size to some extent. Measure one wheel revolution on the ground in millimeters and use that number. With 4-digit accuracy it seems silly to ballpark the measurement.

I have misplaced my manual for my Blackburn sl 3.0. I am looking for the wheel size chart

Try searching for a cateye manual online - wheel sizes don't depend on which computer you have! Alternatively, use a measuring tape to measure a roll-out using the tyre valve to measure exactly one revolution.

My sl 3.0 no longer picks up the signal from sensor so speed/ride time no longer work. I have changed all batteries and checked sensor area for mud/debris etc. the unit is less than twelve months old. The...

Its probably because the computer has lost the ID nuber. It happens every time when U change the batteries or re-setup the wheel size.
It happend with me and it took a long time to figure it out.
So try theese steps out:
1: check the ID number: (hold the right (mode) button for 5 seconds till "ID" is written on the screen) - if there is no number shown thats a good sign.
2. press the reset button on the remote (before make sure that the magnet is placed close enough and it is passes right true in the center of the battery cap of the remot) so RIGHT MAGNET POSITIONING IS ESENTIAL
3. after pressing RESET spin the wheel aproximatly for one minute.

If that is the problem it should pick up the sign.

Ps. A stronger magnet might also help.

Good luck.

Hi there, I have just purchased a Blackburn Atom 4.0 Cyclometer and I am setting it up. What should be put in for the 5-digit Odometer setting ? Many thanks, Pete

It's for recording or apending whatever mileage base you already have so it will indicate your accumulated mileage. It's up to you.
