LOST COLOUR: C29 F500DR The colour seems to have disappeared on my Wow by srs C29 F500 DR. I have a digital set top box attached. I cannot seem to restore colour. Any adjustment of the picture via remote control - scrolling through "Theatre" "natural" and respective settings does not help.

Hi,

To my knowledge, a Hitachi Hitachi C29-F500DR is a 29incher Flat Screen CRT TV. A couple of ideas:

  • check if your version has a PAL/NTSC selector in the menu. Largely dependent on your region/location, switching to another color system would exhibit this problem. Try selecting the other to what it is currently using;
  • as in most TVs, there would be a color circuitry involved that uses a crystal. This crystal is responsible for establishing the color and at times do go bad.;
  • it may be an issue with the digital set top box, pls try using this box on another TV.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

I suspect that you have connected via componet I would check the red green and blue cables

you may have lost a one of the colors but check the cables first

is it b/w on it's menus?

if it is you have a color element out

I have done the color convergence and the picture still seems to be a bit off and now the whole screen seems to lean down on the right side.

Is the static colour bent also? It shouldn't be.
It takes hours some times top set these things up.
Cover one colour up with a piece of card whilst setting another to the donor colour. Usually Green stays static for this purpose.
Hope that helps.

Plasma tv problems

Thanks for the photos, it looks like an internal adjustment is required to the ramp generator which controls the sequence for the screen to refresh itself from a previous image to a new image. This is a precise setting & also a software update may be necessary to cure the problem. These settings are on the Y-Sutain board & need to be accurate.If this procedure does not cure the problem then the screen will need replacing. As it will out of warranty, it would be best to contact a local repair centre & ask for an estimate to try & set these adjustments for you.

Cannot select a lower bit depth in colour than 24 bit?

With better processors and large storage, higher color depth is the order of the day; however if you dont want higher color depth, you can convert the images after scanning. Ofcourse it requires an addl effort.

it depends on what your using it for, adjust colour tones to what you think looks natural, contrast between 80-90, keep sharpness below 30. just have a play around till you find what best suits the source material.

Tv seems ok by static and now, no sound (or very faint)

The problem you're describing sounds like a tuner problem. BUT you say that you have the same problem with A-V input too. That's weird!!! Possibly the electronic TV-AV switching circuit is messed up and stuck in the TV (tuner) position. If this is the case you DO have a tuner problem and a switching problem too.
