Question about Toshiba Tecra M1 PC Laptops
I have the same problem different model of Toshiba laptop
A few days previous it was running slow and eventually freezing up. when I tried to shut it down it went to a blue screen which said that a crucial thread had either been exited or deleted , that this was due to recently installed software or hardware. I had not done neither. Now I am only getting the black screen with this message :
We apologize for any inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restart unexpectedly or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose last known good configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked. If previous start up was interrupted due to power failure or because the power or reset button was pushed or if you aren't sure what caused the problem choose start windows normally.
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good configurations
start windows normally
Up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
Then there is a countdown that says windows will start automatically after 30 seconds.
Before it starts back up the blue screen flashes briefly
You can try to select safe mode and do a system restore (Start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system restore) choosing the date when your laptop was working properly. If you are using Vista, you would see if you had a Windows Update or other such software changes. It is like undoing that but there would be no changes with your personal data. If your laptop works faster after that, please do not have the same software or update again. Hope this helps. Thank you.

SOURCE: The screen says "We apologize
If you can go to SAFE MODE, go into Control Panel and go to "System" and then the "Advanced" tab. Click "Settings" under Start up and Recovery. Then uncheck "Automatically Restart".
This will let you see that Blue Screen so you can research the error. Then restart.
The first thing I would do is remove any new hardware that might have been installed, unplug any external devices like printer, scanner, camera, etc... and then try it.
If that doesn't work, pop in your recovery disk. It will help you through the entire process of the repair.
Let me know what happens.
