My daughter's nintendo ds touch

My daughter's nintendo ds touch screen cracked while she was playing it. Have sent it back to nintendo as it is still under warranty, only to be told it is not covered as she must have dropped it, therefore wanting $95.00 to fix it. Is there a cheaper way??
