Question about Epson Stylus Color 740i InkJet Printer

Open Question

"3 lights flashing"

Back in Nov 07, I asked for a solution, but it didn;t work. I downloaded some software(SSC Utility?), but it only seemed to be able to reset the ink cartridges. I don't need to do that.
All 3 lights ( paper, black ink and color ) are flashing!! Cannot print anymore. Is there a timer, counter in the board that can be reset? I have a number of printers and this always happens. They are in a production atmosphere printing CD's and DVD's. They get 100's of prints/day. It's not worth sending them in for repair. I just want to be able to reset them. Epson must have a known fix for this, but they won't tell me.

Thank you, Carl

SOURCE: epson stylus 1400 service utility SSC

The free SSC utility which will reset the waste ink pad protection counter in most Epson inkjet printers can be downloaded from
http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml. Remember though, if you don't change the ink pads, there will be an increasing danger of ink leakage from your printer, particularly if you tip it up for any reason - VERY messy, and it can clog up your printer mechanisms.

SOURCE: epson stylus C88 won t print color ink black is

If you have carried out 4 to 5 head cleans, waited about 8 hours and done another 3 or head cleans doing nozzle checks after each clean (as recommended by the manual) and there is still no improvement then you will need a third party head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://websites.uk-plc.net/UK_Inkjet_Cartridges_PLUS/products/Print_Head_Cleaner.htm
Other makes & brands are available just google "inkjet head cleaning solution" Hope this helps.

Hi! first please clearly write what your problems is, anyways it seems like you have to reset your printer, to reset it, you can use the SSC SERVICE UTILITY, just google it, download and install, after installing you have to set some specifications of your printer on the utility software and get running. you just have to select soft reset from utility software and restart the printer. Hope this will solve your problem, or you can ask me further questions.

I need reset software for epson cx3600 as i have two red flashing lights and flashing E

The SSC utility will allow you to reset the waste counter on this printer... You may find that this is a general error though in which case resetting won't make any difference.

Both the ink and paper flashed rapidly at the same time.

After intense searching on the net, I tried just about everything. SSC service utility did
Nothing. Turning printer off and on also didn’t help.

Turning printer off then pressing the paper and ink buttons, then turning power on, then waiting for both lights to flash, releasing them and pressing the ink button for 10 seconds also didn’t help.

After days of this I got frustrated, packed the POS back into the box and put it up for sale
On Craigslist. No takers… I was about to put it out to the curb ($540 printer sat in the box for almost a year) but decided to do one last google and found someone talking about the print head moving along the rail.

Suggestion was to turn printer off and see if print head traveled freely back and forth. Ok I thought, Pulled the printer back out of the box and set it up again. Reinstalled software and turned it on. Red lights flashing again! Ok, press the ink button to move head to home, then turn printer off. Then I tried to move head along rail. It moved freely a couple of inches to the left then stopped like something was blocking it.

Took my flashlight out and could not see anything in the way so pushed down on the cartridge cover and heard a “click”….. Duh! The freakin’ cover was not closed! Now the head would move left and right all the way so I turned the printer on and to my amazement NO more flashing red lights! I was both thrilled and depressed (at my stupidity) for not seeing this earlier.

I will post this everywhere I can to remind people that the cartridge cover is the FIRST thing you should check upon seeing both red lights flashing rapidly!!!!!

I changed the ink cartridge but the light keeps flashing and will not print.

You need to reset the counter downloading the Epson SSC Service Utility software.
To download the utility and to reset the counter click here to access the web page and follow the info. Then reset the protection counter of the printer.
Then switch the printer off, wait for one minutes, turn printer back on again
Hope it works.

I am using a continuous ink system for my epson r230 printer. when my printer stopped working with the lights flashing i installed and ran a resetting program i downloaded from the web. my printer again...

There would be no problem if you do that, you will be able to use it again.
If you use SSC Service Utility to reset your printer, there is an option there to disable the status monitor, you might want to check that out first, uncheck the box if it's checked.

Flashing green and red light of Epson stylus c45 series

This means the printer is in some intermediate state such as head cleaning etc so that the SSC must wait until it's finished. The easiest way around this is to turn off your printer, reboot your computer then turn your printer back on again. Then run the ssc, set the printer to your model then select Protection Counter. Reset the protection counter, turn the printer off then on again, and it should now be OK. If you need help with using the ssc program, please post a comment to this effect.

Epson Stylus photo 810/ink jet printer

Hi Alan

I expect by now you've solved this problem - but just in case .....

The waste ink "protection" counter has exceeded its limit and needs resetting. You can do this easily by using the SSC utility - download from:

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Install it, and double click the ssc printer icon in the bottom right corner (System Tray). Choose Configuration and set your printer type (810), then close the ssc window. Now right click the ssc icon in the sytem tray and choose Protection Counter. You should see that the current count is above the limit; then choose reset to set it to zero. Turn the printer off then back on again. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation.
