    Where do I find the screen display options. I'm using a Lenovo 3000 lap top.

    I'm using a lenovo 3000 laptop. The computer starts fine and all the programs are working.

    The problem is that the screen is wierdly colured and streakie.

    It did this a few weeks back and it was fixed by a tech. I have been told to go the screen options and select degrausse for some word like that, but where do you find the screen options in the first place.

    Thanks.

    I have not tried the solutions yet, but the problem does not sound a simple one so if I can't fix it the tech will.

    Thanks.

Hi,

If I may offer an alternative perspective....

I will assume that your Lenovo uses an LCD display. A couple of ideas:

  • without knowing the exact model, it is possible that your monitor has and adjustment called "fine" (or something like that) intended to align the phase of the internal pixel clock to the incoming horizontal sync and should get rid of these noise bars, streaks and discoloration;
  • electrical noise - pls check/relocate any possible source of interference such as UPS, USB external hard drive, lights with electronic ballasts and the likes;
  • recheck/tighten/replace the cables/connectors;
  • try using another monitor;
  • should problem persist, it could be an indication of impending internal problem with the monitor.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Ooops, you heading indicated a desktop. Since this is a laptop, the issue could be narrowed down:

    • try using an external monitor. If problem persist, then it is the video card/memory, if problem does not surface, then it is the laptops LCD display panel;

    • it could also be the flexible flat cable from the laptop's main/motherboard to the display panel. Sometimes it could be fixed by simply re-seating the connector(s);

    • worst case scenario is the LCD panel itself.
    This of course would require opening the unit (both the LCD panel & the main), a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures and possibly use of a DVM. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

On your screen display options you should have the option to select Degausse. Try this. if thaqt does not work and your monitor is the old ones that are called CRT screens then that means that you need to have it repaired if you are not comfortable with opening up these type of units.

    I thought you were using a desktop. Sorry.

    Since you are using a laptop you may try to look at the icons on the numbers one of them looks like an hour glass only fatter. That is the degause button press your function button then the number. If that does not work then Benimurs solution would be pertinent.

Samsung n 150 mini laptop left half screen is white and some part is black with multy colur and right side display is very good so what to do in left side please tell me

Plug in external monitor and see what happens. If similar results the problem lies with the video circuits. If it works fine, then the hassle is with your screen itself.

Trying to start Lenovo laptop but just the "Lenovo" word shows up & nothing happens

Try to remove your hard drive. The company I work for uses mainly lenovo laptops and we have found if a hard drive goes faulty it will hang at this LENOVO screen. if you remove it and it progresses to the bios (it won't load windows since the hard drive is not in the laptop) you might need to consider replacing the hard drive and reinstalling windows.

Xbox runs fine for 10 min then screen goes wierd...

if its not your scart or the tv then its a similar problem to the 3rrod. its sounding like the memory chips are getting too hot and maybe that a solde rpoint has cracked or dry jointed.

the best way to fix this is to reflow the whole mainboard, replace the x-clamps, replace the heatsink paste with arctic silver 5 and add some heat conducting pads to the memory chips (with a little bit of heatsink paste to keep them in place). email me if you need any further help

Fuji Finex 800 camera

If it's pink/purple and "streaky", you have a bad CCD sensor. The only fix is replacement of the sensor. This is the main image capturing sensor in the camera. The situation is well documented on the web. It's usually the end of the camera, unless it's under warranty (or just a little past). Approaching Fuji's repair department can sometimes yield a sympathetic rep who'll have it fixed at no charge to you. If you are on the hook for the repair, expect to drop about $100 US.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
