I had this same problem. The factory repair store sold me a Driver maintence kit. it worked but I didn't need the actual driver as mine was not that worn. I only really needed the O-rings from the kit and grease applied to them to getting working again. It was a pretty easy fix. I think the air is slipping around the O-ring so it cannot pull back the driver piston. I probably didn't keep as well oiled as I should have.

My RN175 shoots you think it shot the nail, but when you move the gun to shoot the next nail the nail you just shot falls out the end of the gun. What could cause this?

The driver is coming down far enough to break the nail off the strip but not far enough to drive it in. This could be caused by any of the following:
- The driver is broken off and too short to drive the nail
- The driver is bent and doesn't travel all the way down
- The seal/o-ring on the piston is damaged and air is leaking past it
Any of the above will require you to remove the head and inspect the driver, piston and o-rings or have a service center check it out.

Porter-cable plunger extended and will not reload new nail

could be a jammed nail in the nose assembly, try removing all the nails and dry firing. If still the same after making sure nothing stuck in the nose, you probably have an issue with the firing valve or piston.

Porter Cable FN250c wont shoot with every trigger pull. sometimes it shoots correctly (10% of the time), other times it just pops (no nail) and other times it shoots two nails at once. Also when it...

Worn trigger and or worn firing valve. Remove the trigger and look for wear on contact surfaces (worn pin that holds trigger, worn inner lever inside trigger, worn or loose firing pin in valve ). Easy test for worn trigger. Remove the nails, remove trigger, fire the gun against wood with finger to test for proper action. If it works better without trigger, consider replacing trigger with new (I would also order the oring repair kit that includes the firing valve )

Gun does not operate even when compressor delivers full pressure and safety collar is depressed pulling trigger results in no action

Check the plunger inside the gun...i don't know if you recently had a jam..but if you did..the plunger might not have been pushed back..that's happened to me when i shoot alot of nails.

Gun shoots one nail then you must disconnect the air and reconnect to shoot another nail. Started this intermitently and got worse. Porter Cable fc 350

The keeper is sticking after the first nail is shot. Once you disconnect the air, the air pressure drops allowing the keeper to drop for the next nail to enter the chamber. Try using airtool oil a little more often, if you are, then you have mechanical issue that will need to be fixed.

Gun shoots one nail, driver does not return.disassembly directions would help if anyone knows where i can get them for free on the web. i did buy a rebuild kit, no directions with kit. thanks

if this is a Porter Cable as listed in the header go to Dewaltservicenet.com and type in your model number under need manual. They don't have directions but you can download a breakdown for the tool. Let me know if you need more assistance, I work on air tools constantly.

Will work fine for one or two nails and then nails jam in the gun or it shoots two or three at once.

This is iffy... but PC nailers are nit picky. If you used someone elses nails, it can (and will) jam and mess up.
So, if Porter Cable nails are being used, clean and lube the nail shoot (with a few drops of air tool oil).

If that does not work, Invest 19 dollars in a new, 18 guage nailer at Harbor Freight. I have 2 of those and they have been trouble free for 3 years.

Driver will not return to rest position,

The plunger or anvil has damage, or your return spring in the chamber is broken. This could also be caused by mechanical issue in the anvil track.

Porter cable fc350a frame nailer shoots just air

Could be a couple things, first are you using the right nails in the gun e.g. collation and degree. Second do the nails move freely in the magazine and how is the pusher spring on the nail does it have enough pressure. Then I would unplug from air remove all the nails andjust tap the nose on a piece of wood and does the driver drop? If so the piston Oring is worn and needs replaced, but if you do that I would recommend replacing all the rubber. Let me know and I would need the exact model number to come up with parts.
