E20 is an error code for drainage failure.

Check where the appliance drain hose connects to the house drains for a blockage.

If it's onto a spigot under the sink, take them off and check both for a blockage.

If these are ok then it's likely to be a blockage in the pump.

You'll need to drain the water out manually.

Put a shallow dish below the filter and slacken the filter.

Tighten it to stop the flow of water while you empty the dish.

Once empty, take the filter out, clean out the debris and ensure nothing is left jamming the pump.

Before refitting the filter, put the machine on drain or spin and listen at the filter housing to see if you can hear the pump running.

If you do, fit the filter and try the machine again.

My zanussi washing machine keeps stopping during the rinse cycle with a flashing "error code 20". I have even tried to bypass the rinse cycle and put it on to spin or drain but it will not work. Help?

I have a Zanussi Electrolux ZWF 1430 W and it's coming up with an E20 error code. The machine starts off OK but after about 25 minutes the Error Code E20 starts flashing in display and the machine stops...

E20 is a draining error.
  1. First, try to reset the machine to factory settings first by setting cycle selector to off position for 5 sec, then to spin for 5 sec, then back to off for 5 sec, and then to spin. The machine should reset allowing you to select the drain cycle and get the water out of the machine then run a spin cycle to clear any remaining water before you unscrew the filter to clear it.
  2. Next, you need to take the filter out at the front, bottom right, of the machine, empty it of all lint and replace it. It may have water trapped in so be ready to soak up excess liquid! Also, make sure when you put it back in you have tightened it enough to avoid leaking but not too much that you cannot get it back out.
  3. If this doesn't fix the problem, check your drain pipe hoses to make sure they are not kinked and flush them out.
  4. Last but not least, replace the drain pump.

E20 ERROR CODE

Plug off the mains. First drain out all your water by lowering the exit hose into a bucket or drain. You have to look for screws below the front kick-panel, the panel comes down & out. The pump is on the right side. Be prepared for dirty water. Inside the big flexible tube (coming from the tub bottom) is the filter, be prepared to find all sorts of junk here, clean out. Examine your pump also, clean out the impeller. Carefully refit all. Your machine would be fine. Don’t wait for the machine to jam to look into your filter.
