Question about GPS

Tomtom 'one' Toyota--New 2days ago, working O.K. Then removed from car to enter a route and the screen displayed tomtom with SD card flying out of it finishing with the card covered by a red 'X'. I presume this means that the SD card is 'duff'.

Have the same problem. Trying to work it out with Toyota. Your SD card is corrupt. If you backed it up, you might be able to reload it from the backup.

If not....well, there's a loop. TomTom doesn't support it, will give you a number for a local rep who will point you back to Toyota who in turn will point you back to TomTom. Best bet (what I'm trying to do) is find someone with the same TomTom and copy the SD card.

I have the same problem. Got a new toyota car, and the tomtom came with it. Worked fine in the car. I removed it to take it home, recharged it, and when i switched it on, i now have an animation showing that i have to remove the sd card. If i do it, and switch on again, the animation is now showing to put the card back in. Uhh. I try holding the reset button for more than 30secs, and it didnt help. Not sure what to do now...

My husbands tomtom IQ routes edition has just frozen - it shows a picture of a world. What can he do to get it back to normal?

Hello,

I will advice you reset the unit, this might help fix the abnormality with the white screen problem. follow these procedure to reset your tom tom gps.
Make sure your battery is charged before you begin. TomTom suggested allowing your device to charge for at least 2 hours before resetting it. Remove your device's SD card from the card slot.
Find the "Reset" pinhole button on the bottom of the device.
Hold the "Reset" button down for 10 to 15 seconds or until your device resets itself. You will need a flattened paperclip or another small metal object to reach inside the pinhole.
Power the TomTom back on and insert your SD Card. You have now reset your TomTom gps and this should fix the white screen problem.

Take care.

Tomtom one (4N00.012) will not load up.

Your particular unit runs it's software from SD-Card. you need to check if the card is not damaged: while unpowered push the SD card to come out insert it in a card reader on your computer and see if it reads it ok, if it ask's you to format it it means it's damaged and should be replaced ( the sd card of your tomtom should be replaced with another SD card which you should buy from tomtom for your particular device not a generic one). if it reads just fine reinsert it and start the device again..And about the reset the correct procedure is: Press and hold the On/Off button until your device restarts. This can take more than fifteen seconds.904537f.gif
You should also install Tomtom Home on your computer, connect the device and update it if al the above failed (with a verified and working SD card inserted) - link for Tomtom Home: Windows, Mac

Screen instructions in wrong language

You could try a HARD RESET

if you look at the bottom there is a small hole for re-setting the tom tom.

It is usually near the SD card slot

Insert the end of a paper clip in there, remove it then switch on.

Tomtom go730t, switch on and get start up screen then displays "no maps found".

Make sure that you have the map installed first of all, or you have the SD card inserted correctly (if using one).

If that is OK, try resetting the device. To reset your TomTom device, do the following:
  1. Charge your TomTom
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
  2. Remove the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
  3. Reset your device
Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. The reset button is located on the underside of the device.
  4. Turn your device on
Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
  5. Insert the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.
Should that still not help, try to download and install the map from TomTom website. Instructions HERE

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. – I would greatly appreciate a FixYa!rating if the solution I provided fixed or helped you resolve your problem.

Thank you for using FIXYA!

TomTom one

Its more than likely that the data on your SD card has become corrupt or the card itself has become damaged / faulty. This can cause the tomtom to feeze on startup and doesn't even get past the loading process. You can "half" prove this by turning the tomtom ON without the SD card inserted. If you get the startup drums then a ' please insert SD card ' symbol on the screen , The card IS FAULTY . good luck. .................Hopefully , you backed up your SD card to your PC some time ago. If this is the case , you can just reload the files onto your SD card.
