Same problem here. The initializing screen flashes on then it goes to the gogear screen and then the player turns of. When it is plugged into the computer this cycle happens nonstop. I've repaired it several times and I have tried different device maneger versions for similar SA60XX players to no avail... It does the same thing every time. Maybe the wrong firmware is being installed or the wrong serial number is on my player.

This all happened after a 4 hour charge on the computer and after the charge is was loading for a very long time. I eventually pushed the reset button, but I think that I waited too long for it wouldn't power back on. I then repaired the player and it is stuck initializing or something.

this is my girlfriends, she gave me the same story as you guys and i thought i would be the brain and fix it, but i get the same problem

its complicated, and i know philips isnt too deep into the mp3 market, but they should atleast offer support for this product if so many people are having the same issue, after calling tech support, they assumed i was stupid and said i was doing something wrong.

one thing is for sure, ill probably buy her an ipod for christmas.
ill keep you posted on my struggles with this rediculous device

Probably needs to be replaced - that is a sure sign of a hardware issue, and it is not something that can just be repaired. but, just to be safe, try this:
Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

I am not able to turn on my Go Gear Vibe MP3 after charging it today. Please help.

Dear Consumer,
We regret and apologize for inconvenience caused to you.
The problem you have described in your web post, can be easily troubleshooted by doing the following tests.
1) Charge your Go Gear for 4 hours continuously, and then try turning it ON.
2) If its already charged and still you are unable to turn it on, than kindly connect it to your PC and then press the power button for few seconds. This should solve your problem.
3) If the player is still not working, then check whether your PC detects the Go Gear when it is connected using the USB Cable. If it is detected, then try to repair it using using Device Manager or Sound Bird.

Philips mp3 go gear 30 gb will not turn on and also does not get recognize by computer, could you please help, i send someone wrote you reset and turn on again, where can i find reset key

There is a reset pinhole on the side of the player, but this will not solve your problem.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
