Recently my children and I were watching a movie, and after we shut off the movie, we could no longer get the TV back, but could still view movies. In an attemt to "fix" the problem, I have unplugged the tv, pushed the reset button in front...all to no avail, the power light still flashes...no picture, but now we can't even get the DVD player to show up, so no movies either....help

Re: Flashing power light no picture
We would need to know the model number. you have indicated that it is ws-65809 but i don think this is your model because what you are describing is a bad dm module and the ws-65809 doesn't have one in it. Let me know and I can help your further!

It could be the temp sensor going bad. This sensor sits on top of the
metal housing which the bulb assembly slides into. The bulb assembly
will have a hole on top and this is where the sensor is above. There is a
small blue and white wire that plugs into it. If you pull the wire out
and put a paper clip or wire in the coupling you will basically bypass
the sensor connecting the blue and white wire. If your tv turns on then
that is your problem. Its cheap too. Here were my symptoms..1] Turn tv
on 2] Bulb would light up..(which eliminates the ballast) regular
picture would show up (which eliminates the bulb and color wheel) 3] 30
seconds later tv would shut down with 3 flashing lights. After bypass
the tv turned on as always and hasnt shut down yet. Always un plug tv
first. Get the replacement part to avoid overheating and possible fire
Kay, the problem is not A DIY and certainly not cheap to fix. If under warranty of any kind claim it. If you recently had a storm and also have home insurance claim repair under FUSION You need to have repair person use the words Fusion on the bill to get paid/
The popping was capacitors on the y and x sustain boards and even the power board. Sustain boards are about $200 each and power board about $170 all up close to $900 for the repair. But get some quotes and try and find Mitsubishi specialist repair people as they will work faster and have the right parts in stock.
power in the tv has nothing related with the DVD. The tv has to have raster (white screen) even without signal (cable, DVD, others) if the tv alone is just having the led flashing and neither sound nor video (black screen) The tv has a short circuit in some of the boards that are part of the tv system. the blinking is part of a protection when the tv was created in the factory. Refer to the technician to repair this problem.
a tv has two components, firstly a power supply produces high voltage to trigger a line transformer, in turn a transformer produces smaller voltages. firstly check if the ht is constantly been produced from a supply, if this is there than go to a line transformer, and check voltages at the output.
According to the E44W48LCD service manual, the temperature indicator red light states the projection TV shut down due to overheating. Red (flashing) states the projection TV shut down, check the cooling fan.
