First steps (forgive me if you are already doing this). Hook up the laptop with cat5 network cable to port on router to verify you have internet connectvity. Verify router settings that DHCP is on or off. It should be on unless u are using static IP's on network. Go back wireless and see if you can connect. IF yo do, open a DOS prompt and use ping command (c:>ping 192.168.x.x ) where x.x are the ip setting of router. In most cases the router IP will be set to 192.168.1.1 Check the most basic settings. Sometimes it is a simple thing that is throwing everything off. Also consider if your laptop is at the very edge of your signal area. Try moving laptop right next to router.
Well to be honest. The reason you keep having the problem is because your router resets itself every few hours. If your routers firmware was already updated by LInskys support and the same thing happens then you will indeed need a new router. Newer models and even the one that you have are all reliable the only problem in your case is most likely wear and tear. You have had it for a few years now hence most likely its degraded to a point that it resets itself which causes your problems so yes i would suggest you get a new one. have you tryed calling linksys they can help you . but you might want to try going to 192.168.1.1 first this will get you in to your router so you can set the settings on it. it might ask you for a password its admin try this before you contact linksys if you have trouble setting it up we have a premium chat i can help you
