  • This is often due to a cold or cracked. soldier joint. I recommend removing the covers and having a good look with a flashlight. Sometimes a loose power cord connector can do this too.

  • Hope this helps.

Sounds like a cold solder joint on the voltage regulator or the regulator itself.

I have a General Lee radio. Bought it used from a pawn shop for a really good price ($70, don't think they know what it is). I turned it on worked great, for maybe 12 hours off and on. The next day it...

depending on how old it is, it could have bad caps. Could be the switching transistor, mic... Any number of things. It is the kind of thing where you have to start checking things down the line looking for the issue. Start with the simple things like the mic, cold solder joints. Look for obviously burnt parts. After that it gets a bit more technical checking parts in the TX section.

Hopefully its just a bad mic wire which would cause the radio to have no RX. Try a new mic. Good luck!

New radio, TX/RX freq. off 7khz and clarifier non functionable

under warranty that would be cover no charge.! send it in.. The clarifier on a factory radio will only adjust the RX.. not the TX.. unless there's a "course and fine." the course would do both. the fine would be rx only

Your power output has blown, they are called your "finals" they can be replaced quite cheaply.

Most likely cause is a weak electrolytic capacitor in the frequency synthesizer circuit or a voltage regulator that feeds power to it. As they age, these capacitors, which contain a viscous acidic electrolyte, can dry out but will function when warm, at least for a while, before they fail completely.
