Thank you for trusting fixya.com.

I am very happy to assist you.

I am providing you with a link to the support page of canon where you can download the driver for your printer. Just put in the operating system that your computer is running so that you will never be having some problems with it.

Here's the link: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/i_series/i80#DriversAndSoftware

Download the driver. Install it. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Try this site. You didn't specify what operating system that your new computer is running, however it looks like they have up to Win Vista drivers. Hope this helps.

Ip1800 collecting printer status

The printer is trying to collect data of it's status. Meaning its trying to get info on the ink andso on. Make sure your ink is installed and everything is hooked up correctly. Wait a few minutes before trying to use it. If it still says collecting printer status wait a few minutes.

Installing canon i80 printer

If you have an old driver installed, remove it from your computer.
Visit a canon site , look for the download tab, enter your printertype and Operating system, look for your driver and download it.
After installation of the new driver : good luck :-)
