I plug my zen into a PC desktop computer and when i did this is went white and shut off, now it wont turn on. I have pressed restart button but that dosent work. Its as if the computer shorted out the battery. Has any one else had this problem? I cannot return it because it is passed the warranty date.

My Zen is doing the same thing. The only time it shows any sign of life is when it is plugged into my computer. The screen flickers white every once every second. I can't turn it on, charge it, and my computer doesn't recognize that it is connected. None of the above solutions worked as my player is completely unresponsive.

Creative Zen
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If all else fails, check with this guy:

Zen mozaic has frozen and now it won't even turn off, have tried pressing all the buttons but nothing happens

Did you try the reset button on lower left side of player? I use a twist tie and cut paper or plastic off tip to press button.

My Zen Mozaic is dead, won't charge on ANY computer. Was fine b4.

I had this problem myself and the solution is really simple. As you look at the Zen, turn the left hand side towards you. Near the bottom you will see a very tiny "reset" button. Press and hold (with a pin or fine pen tip) for a couple of seconds, then try turning the Zen on. It worked for me

You need to replace the battery in this unit as its not putting out enough charge to power the unit even tho it says it charged.

hope this helps

How can i turn on my zen

The reset button cap on the lower left side of the unit may be jammed, causing the reset switch it activates to be come stuck.

This will put the unit into a loop in which it continually restarts.

You'll never see any sign of life if this occurs.

Be sure you see the "RESET" stencil or that may not be the reset button.

I've seen people poke paper clips their devices' microphone or speaker openings!

Be very careful when pushing the reset so that the button cap goes straight down.

If yours is stuck, unstick it, then it should come on if the battery is charged.

Then be sure to give it a FULL charge before using it, because while the button was stuck, power was being consumed.

Be sure to remove the rubber boot / skin before trying to reset the unit.

Don't buy this unit. The power system is prone to being blown out when disconnecting from USB. I've blown out two. I'm on my third. BAD DESIGN. AVOID IT!

My creative zen is completely dead it doesn't power on at all also it doesn't charge there is no power what so ever please help me

I have had the problem of the completely dead player after having it for less that an day. No response to any buttons, no response when plugged into USB to charge, and Windows sees it as an "unknown device" when plugged into the PC. It tried the reset hole, and still nothing.

Then I tried connecting it to the PC to charge and then using the reset hole. Success - the player sprang back to life, fully charged. Hope this helps someone.

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
