Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t Notebook
Black screen with all lights on I put my computer in sleep mode, and when i went to wake it up it would not wake up. All the lights turn on but the screen will not turn on.
There was no solution in my case for fixing. HP apparently has had this problem with several of the motherboards that went into these laptops. It is a manufacturing problem and they tend to overheat. Best Buy gave me a credit for what I paid for the computer and I bought a Sony Vaio....great laptop.

This is not exactly a solution, but I found that if I unplug the computer, then take the battery out and replace it, then plug it in and then restart, it at least gets me up and running. I am now just using the laptop without the battery installed because I don't need the portability. It boots every time without the battery installed.

Since, sleep mode is a "low power state" it is not really a good idea, to do it. Get it service repaired. If you are exactly using a computer not laptop. Then thats the reason. Comptuter is not a good idea to sleep.
Note: All stuff lose. If you can't get it repaired. Contact a computer technical service, or give it to the store where you bought the computer/laptop.
Thank You for Using FixYa!

I had the same problem with a dv2600
"Run online diagnostics to download and install latest PC BIOS and graphic drivers automatically"
Install BIOS update and mine works fine now.

Problem will only get worse. HP knows about this and has extended wty by 2yrs for this particular issue only. Sorry I don't have a link. I found it elsewhere on this very site. May have better luck searching HP support site. It is there. I think they call it an "enhanced" wty or something like that. You need to have persistence on the phone with them, they will want to sell you wty (fairly cheap, but you can get it for free including shipping both ways). Good luck--I apologize for lack of links. Mine is at their shop as we speak.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
