Printer will not print

Let's assume the cables are OK and connected. Click on Start, Control panel, Printers and faxes (or similar). Delete all printers. Click Add printer, choose Local printer, USB port, Next. Choose brand on the left side, and model from at the right. Confirm everything and this should be OK. If not, try to find printer model on manufacturer's web site, and install it. If this does not help, probably the problem is with printer, try to reinsert cartridge, paper, pull out cables, put them back after 10 seconds and try again.

Hi lesstravelro...
No, the printer does not connect to the ethernet port.

Before you hook your printer to your laptop besure to run any softwear that came with the printer.
I would also recommend that you go to the Manufacturer's website for updated drivers for your printer.
Your printer will have a printer port or usb port on the side/back of the printer to plug the printer cable into the printer.
You will plug the other end of the printer cable into a usb port on your laptop.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

Hi i have the canon mp490 all in one printer and i was just wondering how to i get things to print from my lap top

1) Install the network adapter on the printer, if necessary. Many wireless printers have the adapter pre-installed, but if this isn't the case, turn off and unplug the printer. Then, remove the back cover on the adapter slot and place the adapter into the slot.

2) Plug in and turn on the printer. Then, insert the drivers CD that came with the printer into the CD drive of the computer. If you've misplaced the CD, the drivers can be downloaded from the website of the printer's manufacturer.

3) Configure the network adapter. Once the drivers installation has loaded, select "Using a wireless network" and then select "Next". Usually, there is a User Agreement at this point, to which you will agree and press "Next".

4) Connect the laptop to the printer using a USB cable. Connect one end into the USB port on the back of the printer and the other end to a free USB port on the computer.

5) Finish configuring the network adapter. After connecting the laptop and printer with the USB cable, select "Create or modify the printer's wireless settings" and then click "Next".

6) Connect the printer to a wireless network. The wireless setup utility will automatically open after the adapter has been configured. Find your wireless network in the "Wireless networks found in your area" and select "Next". Then verify this information on the next screen.

7) Connect the laptop to the printer through the wireless network. Now, disconnect the USB cable. Make sure that both the laptop and printer are connected to your network. If they are, you're now set up.

Can I connect my HP PSC1510 to my BT Homehub v1?

yes, you can. I have my printer connect to my hub and my desktop and I can print from my laptop wirelessly.
You will need your all in one connected via a printer or USB cable to a computer AND also connected to your hub. Then, go to the computer that is connected through a cable to the all in one. Your all in one should have some way to configure its IP address. I have my printer configured as 192.168.1.4 and it's plugged into the 4th port of my hub. Check if this works.

HP Printer Usb port in my Acer Laptop , shortcircuits my house

hello

Try using external USB HUB (POWERED) Adapter. It might fix this issue.
Use an other USB cable and see.
If the problem still exist do not plug in the printer again, you may damage your USB port or even burn your laptop motherboard.
hope this helped

Samsung ML-4500 with IEEE 1284 to usb cable not working

Windows XP/VISTA (do not install the CD)
1) Plug the cable into the USB port on your computer.
2) A prompt that says "Found New Hardware" will appear. Windows will then install the USB printing support driver automatically. You do not need to install the driver from the CD.
3) Plug the cable into the printer.
4) If your printer is already installed, click on Start, then Printers & Faxes. Right click on the printer you are connecting to and click on Properties. Click on the Ports tab and check the ‘Virtual printer port for USB’ port. Click OK.
5) You should now be able to print.

With XP, the biggest clue is to FIRST plug the cable into the usb slot, THEN the other end of the cable into the printer.

Installing printer

Hi there!

1. Try another USB port at the laptop (if you have other USB ports in it).
2. Try a known working USB cable.
3. Try a different laptop/ computer.

This should further isolate your problem.

Hope this helps!
