Find first what type of ram you computer needs.. try http://www.mobel.com/memoryfinder.htm or
1. look for your manual of your motherboard.. (look inside the case and get the alphanumeric code printed on *********** board.. watch the electrostatic discharge.. it may run your pc components.. (ground yourself by touching the the power supply first)
2. once you have the code for *********** board.. google it up!
3. find what specifc type of ram your computer needs. and where to install it on your computer as you may have room but depending the motherboard documentation you may have to put it a certain order or in a certain dimm, rimm or simm slot..

things to keep in mind.. if you buy memory that's not the one your computer needs because you're brave and you think you can do it yourself.. if the memory turns out not to be compatible with your system (it's a possibility because it has happened to me)... you're stuck.. because you can't return memory!!.. plus if you don't do it right.. you may damage a component inside your computer...
my advise.. pay for the upgrade... and have someone to blame if it gives you problems!!

My e-machines will not let me upgread my ddr2 1eb memory

That Machine would take DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrade chips. The max that system could take would be two 1GB sticks for a total of 2GB or 2048MB of memory. Memory is fairly easy to damage with static discharge and is also very easy to not put in all the way. When putting it in, unplug the power from the computer, push and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds to help discharge power from the computer, Line up the pins on the memory and push them into place till the little arms at the sides of the slot pop up and click into place. I'd install one chip at a time, powering the machine up after the first chip to make sure it works, then starting over again. The only time I'd install both chips at the same time would be when installing a memory kit (two or more chips in one package), in which case, install both chips before powering it on.

I have a HP dc7600 small form pentium4HT 3.4 GHZ with 1GB of Ram. What type of RAM do i need to max this machine out safely?

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 4GB
Slots: 4
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
icon_note.gifAlthough the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules. When using PC2-5300 parts the maximum memory is 2GB. When using PC2-4200 the maximum is 4GB.

I wanted to get my acer aspire T180-UA381B upgraded, and I know very little about computers, how much and what kind of ram should i put in to make it run fast

Based on your memory specs below the maximum RAM that you can install in your computer is 1GB
DDR2 SDRAM and you can get 1GB RAM for like $15 -$ 20. 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM is what you need to buy.

Your Memory Specs:
Installed Cache Memory: 256.0 KB

Just installed 2 2GB cards (Corsair VS2GB800D2) to replace the 1 1GB card in my emachines EL1200 series. Computer will not boot. replaced the old card and it booted right up.

Will it boot with only ONE of the 2GB memory-sticks installed?
Will it boot with ONE of the 2GB memory-sticks AND one of the 1GB memory-sticks?

Look closely at the 1GB memory-sticks.
Does the label show 'DDR266' or 'DDR333' or 'DDR400' or 'PC2100' or 'PC2700' or 'PC3200' ?
Do the 2GB memory-sticks have _identical_ information?
It's definitely _not_ acceptable to have "slower" RAM (smaller numbers) in the new RAM,
but it _might_ be acceptable to have "faster" RAM (larger numbers).

Hi,
I belive the problem is caused due to non compatible memory being installed . According the Dell documentation the memory specification is as under

333- and 400-MHz DDR SDRAM
1Gb Non-ECC on each slot.

Just check the speed of the memory you are trying to connect.

What memory can i upgrade to for my system?

The Gateway GT4022 comes from the factory with two sticks each of 512 MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz dual channel, non-ECC memory, for a total of 1GB (1024 MB). You have 4 slots for memory. Each slot can have up to 1GB for a total of 4GB's. You should install the memory in _pairs_ for best performance. Also, when installing in pairs, you'll need to populate the pairs in slots 1 and 3 (_not_ slots 1 and 2 if using only one pair). Slots tabs on slots 1 and 3 are white. The tabs on tabs 2 and 4 are black.
You can go to memory websites like www.crucial.com to get a free scan of your computer to see all the memory options available for your computer.

Dell PE 1600SC invalid memory configuration detected

You may need to install memory in matching pairs. If the new memory is a single 1Gb module and you didn't already have a similar one they may not work together. Try removing the original module(s) and see if it makes a difference.

Installion of Memory

Hi Daisy,
You need to remove one of the old RAMs but would like to remind you that different brand of rams with different type of memory would cause a conflict in the future. better remove both your OLD RAM and replace only that new 1GB ram, unless one of your old rams is a 1Gb also with the same brand.

let me know what you did. :)
