Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines
Have you cleaned the filter to make sure it isn't blocking the flow of water to the pump? If that's clean, then check the drain hose for a kink or onstruction.. If that's OK.. then you may have a belt that droves the pump that is borken or the pump itself is clogged of damaged.. Those are the normal suspects on things like this...

Hello Dorothy - Does the drain pump make a humming noise? If so, there may be a restriction in the drain line or siphoning. Otherwise since it is such a complex unit I would recommend contacting a professional to have either the pump or timer diagnose.
