Ok if you look at the front of your computer there is a little slot right below the cd-rom drive that is actually a button you can push to enable you to slide off the cover of the cpu

I have a belkin router i am having trouble connecting it. i dont know where to connect the ethernet cable. Does it go the computer or the modem?

the ethernet cable should be connected to the ethernet port of the router to the ethernet/network port of the computer. you will also need to connect a cable through the router and the modem, then a phone cable from the modem to the phone line.

If it necessary to conect the ethernet cable to the usb port on back of the One ZX 4000 series

Ethernet cables don't go into the usb hub, they go into the Ethernet port on the back. So...no, an Ethernet jack won't work in a usb hub.
