I have audio, but no video, what's up? last night I was watching, and the picture went out, I truned off the TV, then restarted it...the picture came back. Today I tryed to turn it on and no picture, just...

s the audio coming from the TV's internal speakers, or from an external sound system? In the 169 series chassis, if the power supply caps or secondary rectifier are bad, or if the high voltage splitter has shorted inside, the set will not run and there will be no picture or sound from the TV. If the picture is completely black but the TV still has audio, press the menu button and see if the menu comes up on the screen. If the menu is there, check your cables on the back of the TV. If you are using a cable or satellite box, the box could be bad or the video wire could be bad or loose. If you do not get the on-screen menu, then I would guess that the solder joint next to the flyback transformer that sends filament (heater) voltage up to the picture tubes has cracked, or the low value resistor in the heater circuit has opened up. If that is the case, have the set serviced by a qualified tech familiar with the 169 series chassis.

you have a problem on the chassis. either the FMT, DM, or the terminal board have gone bad. the quickest most effective way to repair would be to repair the chassis. check out www.tv-techs.com

No sound or picture

Try 2 things:
1. If you have a cable box with the yellow/white/red outputs, use a compatible cord to run the 3 to another input on your TV (ie input 1 vs cable). and/or
2. Do a Factory reset. Hold the "menu" button on your TV then on your remote hit "menu" then "8" then "select" and go to "factory reset". You may have to unplug the TV as it may freeze on "factory reset". Replug it then try it out.

Hope it works.

Has sound but no picture

When you press the menu button on the TV's remote, does the menu come up on the screen? If it does, then check the cables between your signal source and the TV. If you are using a cable or satellite box and have it hooked up with RCA or S-Video cables, the cables could be bad or have pulled out. If you do not see the on-screen menu, then it means that something has stopped working inside the set, such as the vertical sweep or high voltage. In that case have the set serviced by a qualified tech familiar with projection sets.
