Question about Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
Considering that it's a LCD type, that is not a good sign; the individual pixels are addressed by a matrix and that kind of indicates that a vertical driver for that column is failing and these are often not replaceable by human hands having pin spacing too close for shaky techs.
If you want to confirm that this is heat related, you can buy a can of freeze spray from any electronic supply house and spray into various slits in the housing to see it you can restore that column temporarily with it.
