Did you find out what was wrong with your TV? I came home from work today to watch the Vikings, and my TV is doing the exact same this as you decribed. I need to know if its worth fixing or do I get a new TV?? I would hate to have to get a new one cause this one had such a great picture and its paid for.

If it is Mitsubishi WD-52525 DLP TV then it sounds weak lamp problem in TV and TV needs lamp replacement. How old is this TV and did you replaced lamp recently? Lamp replacement is written in user manual of TV and it is easy work. Please buy Mitsubishi original lamp for TV safety. Thanks.
Could be serious...but first check the screen modes (for split screen, format, etc) to be sure the tv is set up properly for the picture you are trying to watch. Switch the input to a DVD or something similar. Is it the same? If not, you have a mode/resolution problem with the tuner and perhaps some other device.
It sounds like you TV is overheating and the video is suffering and the lamp is overheating as well. Also, if your TV is over 2-3 years old, the mirrors (behind and below the big front screen) desperately need to be cleaned. Clean all filters and fans as well. (Look on side and behind the unit). Is the TV in a "hot" environment and/or dirty environment? DLP TV's are NOT sealed units. They need to be cleaned every few years to work well to have a good, clear, bright picture.
