To solve slow speed surfing, downloading and uploading problem.
I have a gprs internet connection and using my cellphone as my modem. It is said that gprs is a high speed internet connection, but I use to surf the net as a snail. My downloading speed is 1kbps-4kbps. When I connect to internet it is shown that I am connected with 921.6 kbps of speed, but when I surf the net the speed much more slower than a dial-up connection. Please help me to increase my surfing, downloading and uploading speeds.

cellphone network speeds explained fast and easy!!!!!
This will be a guide explaining cellphone network speeds that just about anyone can understand. Most cellphone company's are just refers to thins such as "3G" and"4G" but never explaining what are the real speeds they run at.
Remember that just because they ran at max does not mean you will get that speed all the time. Some providers are better than others but that will be a whole different article. I will order the list from slowest to newest tech.
Dial-up: This is just like when we used to use those good old modems over phone lines to connect to the internet. These are very slow and run at a max of 9.6 kbps(9600 bps)these can be ok for simple text but anything more would be much to slow.
GPRS:(General Packet Radio Service) is still used and popular service that runs at a max of 56KBPS. This is about as fast as those 56k modems we used(or some still use)for so long. This is a huge step up but still very slow and can be a problem for anything more than simple text and small picture files.
EDGE:(Enhanced General Packet RadioService) is where we start to get great data speeds. It is just under3G(explained next) and really allowed a easy and fast net connection. This is heavily used today by AT&T. This is a evolving technology that is currently running at speeds up to 175kbps and is concedered a3G technology although you will here people call it 2.7G.
3G(third generation): is allows people a clearer way to talk over cellphone network as well as be able to talk and look over the net at the same time(this can be handy to provide a caller with directions and thing) it provides speeds up to384kbps. It is the most used technology of these and is used all around the world.
UMTS(Universal Mobile TelecomunicationsSystem): is a system much like 3G but it is evolving to fast speeds. You wont really run into this so no real need for explanation. It runs maxed out at 384kbps but is evolving to fast speeds.
4G(Forth Generation): is a new technology that is being used by some networks. It still being worked out but has been said to give speeds up to 40MBPS but most expect it to run at 1000-5000kbps on most networks. Verizon as well as ATT is investing into updating their networks into the future with Verizon having plans to provide service in 20-30 areas by the end of 2013.
Well, I will update this as time goes on to give you the best info. Remember these change very fast and you will needs a phone that takes advantage of new technology that comes along.
Probably now you are using GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) or EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) services on your phone. These services and their speeds are dependent on their Network service providers. However, these services cannot provide speeds beyond a limit (32-48kbps for GPRS and 135kbps for EDGE) and are not suitable for services like high speed internet surfing, video streaming and downloading. You cannot use High speed 3G services on your LG GX500 because your phone doesn't support 3G technology. But you can connect your phone to a WLAN (Wireless LAN) Network (Your phone supports WiFi Technology) which are capable of high speeds (upto 54 Mbps). It can be from a public WLAN network or a WiFi modem.
Hope you are satisfied with my solution. Thanks for choosing Fixya.

You've to use the nokia software given by Nokia with the phone (nokia PC suite). Tha will create a modem from your phone, so you could use it as a modem. Please pay attention for the charges your operator will make... I'ts not cheap. You could also go to: http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/nokia-n72/pc-software# And download it.
Also, if that don't resolve the problem, you could take a look at the Faq/Support page of Nokia N72.
