My cannon safary safe wont open, the code is right but the handle just keeps on turning all around and wont let me open it. any ideas of how to open it.

You said the handle turns but doesn't open. This might be because the handle has unlatched from the bolting mechanism or has jammed. If your safe has batteries, replace them, and it's also possible the wiring has broken. Try giving it a few taps with a hammer, but if this doesn't work you may need to contact a technitian

Electric keypad seems to be working. However, the handle is broken and won't pull the bolts back. Handle spins. How do I get in the safe without damaging it too bad where it can be fixed.

Hi. I've been a locksmith for 36 years. First ten years in the USAF, 3 years working for a local locksmith shop and the remainder at the local University.
If your safe is small enough, try laying it on it's back, thereby relieving most of the effects of gravity on the bolt work. If the handle is simply installed too loosely to engage the mechanism, this should help.
"Punch in" the combo, listen for verification of acceptance, (if electronic) or stopping of the dial at the correct position (if mechanical), then with the safe on it's back, slowly, quickly, pulling, pushing, whatever motion works, try retracting the bolts.
If you run out of faith that this is going to work, the second method is to drill down the middle of the handle directly into the safe mechanism. You should be able to do this with a simple electric drill and a 1/4 inch bit (or so). The material you will be drilling into is not hardened.
Drill until the tip of the bit is within the safe door (but still inside the handle's center). Stop and check with a flashlight to see if you have an empty hole or can make out other pieces of metal attached to the handle inside the safe. If empty, try drilling in increments until you can see a roll pin or something like it passing through the handle's spindle. At this point, try gently (or not too gently) turning with a flat-bladed screwdriver or other tool as appropriate to the task.
What you are trying to accomplish is to grab hold of whatever mechanism the handle is supposed to be attached firmly and turning it, bypassing the use of the handle. The ruined handle can be replaced fairly cheaply, or just tightened and capped to look like it was always that way. (note: if you get it open, tighten everything and make it work without replacing the handle, don't worry, the locking mechanism is the thing that still works just fine and will still keep your safe safe. The handle is just for turning bolts and will be just as secure with a hole in it as it would be if it were new.
Opening these things are not easy and patience is one of your most useful tools.
If push comes to shove, tearing the thing to shreds is the only remaining option. (Of course, your local Locksmith Shop may be of help, too.
Good luck.

How do I close safe?

I would guess that the "tabs" are the locking bars, so the logical thing to do would be to dial the combination, turn the "let's get inside" handle, and the tabs should retract.

Next step,
Put lots of jewels in safe
close door
turn handle other way
spin combination knob
Have glass of wine.

How to set up th ebatteries in my sentry safe DSW5781?

Locksmiths agree
1. Remove and discard the screw (if
equipped) at the base of the lock case.
2. Turn the electronic lock case to the
right (clockwise), from 12 o’clock to
2 o’clock, and remove.
• Insert 4 new AA batteries (not included) to power
this lock.
• Replace the electronic lock case and turn to the
left (to 12 o’clock) to reassemble.
NOTE: The yellow LED will light when the batteries
need to be replaced.
3. Turn the key (if your safe is equipped with a key
lock) to the right so the lock cylinder pops out.
4. Enter the factory code. When the green light appears, you
have four seconds to turn the handle down to
open. Try this several times before proceeding to
the next step.
To unlock safe:
Enter the 5-digit factory code, a pre-programmed
user code, or a pre-programmed user pin
programming instructions. When the
green LED lights you have 4 seconds to turn the
handle and open the safe.
To lock safe:
Close the door and return the handle to the
horizontal position. For greatest security, depress
the key lock (if equipped) with your finger.

I have a sentry 1250. the door is stuck shut. The dialer won't move but the handle will. how can i fix this?

As a locksmith it sounds like the safe is unlocked and the handle is broken. try turning it on it's side and dropping it this might retract the bolts.

Sentry Model 1610 Won't Open

I have a different model but I had the same problem. Called customer service and they had me push up on the handle and enter the code. That didn't work but then they had me tap the safe with a rubber mallet 5 times above the panel and 5 times to the right of the panel. That worked for me. Hope one of those works.
