Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My HP Pavillion desktop had given me a "serious error" screen and then a "blue screen" and stopped working. It would not reboot. I had to use my recovery disc to get it to boot up. It worked for a while and then repeated the same problem. I repeated the recovery disc and updated windows and microsoft while it was working. Everything seemed to be fine. I reinstalled the missing programs and Norton 360. Then started getting errors again and a gray error screen. I backed up my photos, but couldn't find my documents to back the up. Is my hard drive going bad? Should I install a new one?

You need to make a note of that blue screen you say you get when the computer stops working.. those are know as the infamous blue screen of death (no kidding) or as ms call it stop error screens..

make a note of the stop error code you get on the screen.. it's way to fast for you to see it.. you may be able to see what the stop error code is by going into the event viewer (as long as you have checked to have this events reported to event viewer in system properties> advance tab and start up and recovery area.).. look inthe event viewer (start>right click my computer>manage>event viewer) and look for system events.. you should see a white x inside a a red circle.. look for those error events and look for the error code.. it should give you something like 0x????????? post that error here.. or google it, it may give you an idea of what may be wrong. at this stage it could be software related or hardware related?

did you install a device recently? the driver is very comun problem that may give you a bsod if it's critical.

Blue screen frequently appears, and it reboot by itself? pavillion g7-1070us

A blue screen often called Blue Screen Of Death, BSOD, indicates that something is wrong with the computer. Usually it is a driver that is not correct or corrupt.
You need to specifically identify that the BSOD message is. If the system reboots before you can read it, boot the system while hitting F8 many times per second until you see a black and white screen with a number of options. Towards the bottom will be one regarding automatic restart on error. Uncheck that option. Now the BSOD will stay on the screen and you can post the stop code here to get help.
I hope this helps. I do this for fun & feedback not $$$

I have a CyberPower Gamer Ultra 6230 Desktop PC

Windows systems are notorious for crashing for any number of reasons and in a number of ways. Some of these crashes are mild and can easily be overcome simply by closing a nonresponding application or by rebooting the system. However, others are more serious and can bring the entire system to its knees. Microsoft calls these types of crashes "Stop errors" because the operating system stops responding. When a Stop error occurs, the GUI is replaced by a DOS-like blue screen with a cryptic error message followed by a code number. This screen is affectionately referred to as the Blue Screen Of Death.
