Reprogram key pad for garage door opener

Need to reprogram

I bought a house and wanted to reprogram the keypad for the Chamberlain LiftMaster garage door keypad. I followed the directions on the keypad flip door. I punched in the old 4 digit code and held down the # button until the overhead light flashed two times. I then pushed the learn button on the back of the opener itself. Then I punched in the new 4 digit code and pressed the enter button. Nothing happened. Now I can even get the keypad to work with the old code numbers. Any ideas on what to do?

To program the keypad, you will have to press the LEARN button on the back of the garage door opener console and when it begins to flash, enter a new 4 digit code on your keypad and press enter. You should hear a click and see the lights on the opener flash.

On the back panel of the opener itself is a small pushbutton. Press the button and the indicator near it will light. While the indicator is lit, enter the new 4-digit code on your keypad and it will be set. (You are actually programming the receiver with the new code this way. The wireless keypad doesn't store a code.) The programming light goes off on its own.

SOURCE: Garage Door Key Pad

Assuming, from what I read, the remote works..The inside switch is just a doorbell switch which will wear out or have the contacts get bent or dirty. Take off wall, and change for new one or see if the contacts can be cleaned or adjusted. If the pad is electronic (coded) the wires may be bad or the control defective. Usually momentary contact of the two wires will cause the door to actuate.

SOURCE: How can I reprogram my keyless pad?

If you mean wireless keypad it is like this. Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to your keypad and key in your 4 digit code and press enter.

You can try programming it but first make sure the battery is good. Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to your keypad and key in any 4 digit code you like and press enter.

You shouldn't need to reprogram the pad; it functions as before simply sending a signal to the opener that has the programing saved in it.

If you have a wireless keypad you need to do just what you are doing except after pressing the last number you need to press enter. If your keypad is hard wired post back because the instructions are not the same.
