My sony dav-dz260 will not power on looks dead

Have a look at this forum it seems to say that if you get a different remote, other than a Sony one, you can change the region code. The forum lists the instructions for doing so. I don't know if it will work on your model though.

I have the same message "SD Detect" when I press (together) Eject, Forward & Function buttons after message "Push Power Protector"...

Does anyone fix it already and can share what is the solution ?

It's a selection in the setup menu.

It is possible that the power supply has failed and so a quick check on the power side will confirm the case. Check for blown fuse, and also the voltage on the secondary side.
It is also possible that the amplifier has shut down due to a PROTECT circuit. If so disconnect the speakers and test. Also try and reset the amplifier, remove power for a while and then switch on to see if the reset works.
Finally check to find if there is shorting in the output stages, if so the protect will cut off supply .Do not attempt to remove unless you are equipped as the boards are stacked and will need good soldering techniques.

In this case what is required is a probe using a multimeter and you must be technically inclined to check this out. Please be careful not to short and unless you are confident to use a multimeter with the selected range to check for the Secondary LT voltages to the circuit , it is not recommended.
If you can get a tutorital on use of multimeter, you can start from the secondary power supply , check out each sections of the DC outputs to the respective board .
If power seems good then you need to know the basics of the block sections of the amplifier to proceed further so as to identify.

Wont read memory sticks. Only usb flash drives.

any sony mic should do as long as it properly connects to the receiver its fine.

Check DAV amp menu and select DTS surround or any other digital sound option.

i have the same dav dz260 and all my stuff works on mine. this is how i set it up i have conected y dz to the tv via scart and my sky and ps3 via hdmi cable. to get sound from sky and ps3 i conected a optical cable from the dz260 to the tv and when i want sound for sky or ps3 all i did was change the function on the dz260 to tv and the tv setting to the hdmi im using and hey presto sound hope it helps

I think Sony Service Center in UK can upgrade your DAV-DZ260 to play DivX files.
I live in Pakistan and can upgrade firmware if required.
