The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery, iPhoto, and Nikon Transfer.

Nikon d700 hotshoe missfire with flash nikon sb900

Probably a loose hotshoe. This is a common problem with the D700 hotshoe and SB900 combo. The weight of the SB900 eventually loosens the hotshoe, meaning the internal screws holding the hotshoe in place loosens.

Incorrect exposure on NIkon D700

It sounds like you've got exposure bracketing turned on.
Refer to the "Bracketing" subsection of the "Exposure" section of the manual (page 130 in my copy). If you need a manual, you may download a copy here.

I can transfer images from my nikon d700 to my desktop. The Nikon software have been installed in my computer. Every time I switch the camera on, to start transfer. The computer system says installed...

Your computer is looking for a mass storage device. Go through the camera menu system and make sure "USB Connection" is set to Mass Storeage, then Windows will automatically install the drivers.

Unable to transfer pictures

Just get a card reader and insert the smart card from the camera into it. It will show up as a drive on you computer. Go into the DCIM file and your pictures will be in there.
