No hot water

I have a hotpoint washer. I can not get hot water to go into the washer. the hot water line flows. I'm not sure if it is the valve or switch. I hate to order the wrong part.

Hi,

Some washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:

  • Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.

  • Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.

  • Is there hot water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, completely replace it.

My maytag washer model lat8006aae hot water flows in slow. I reversed water supply lines, no change, replaced water strainers and new water lines, still slow flow. supply lines, inlet water valve

It is possible the hot cold switch is flawed and stuck on mix of hot and cold I would have the inlet valve checked with a multi meter they can also check it for u at most appliance parts stores

What does code f 20 mean

usually it's the water valve needs to be replaced, best thing is to remove the bottom panel, look for the diagnostics paper and put it back for future repairs, either taped to the bottom inside panel or look around inside cabinet usually on right hand side taped to right wall,it will tell you what the code is and look up how to put into diagnostics,if hot and cold water are coming in to slow or no water on hot or cold shut it down, unplug it,shut the water valve off going to washer, remove the water lines going to washer and mark them so hot goes back to hot and cold back to cold on the washer water valve.when you have the hoses off turn the house valve back on to make sure water is coming through both lines, the problem could be the house valve so you want to eliminate that.if good look into the washer valve,if you see alot of sedement in the screens change out the washer water valve,if all looks good on some machines there is a flow meter that could cause this code to come up,if water is coming in strong and screens look clean on water valve i would change the flow meter.go here and see your parts

one is valve 4 is flow meter hope this helps

Put the temp select switch on HOT, start machine. If water comes out check the flow amount. If no water flow, replace inlet water valve. If there is water flow switch to COLD, start machine. If water comes out check the flow amount should be approximately equal or slightly more than flow on HOT. If no water flow, replace inlet water valve. Move selector to WARM, start machine. Now there should be twice the flow of water than there was with HOT and COLD temps. I suspect it is the HOT side of inlet water valve that has failed because machines usually rinse with COLD water.

    Hi Eric,
Have you taken off the hose for the hot water at the back of the washer and then run it into a bucket to make sure the flow was good there?
If you have great flow there then the problem is in the washer...
If not then it is in your plumbing...you will need to track that down and fix it...
If it is in the washer then you probably have a problem with the fill valve or solenoid valve that opens to let the water in...they can either stick or get dirt lodged in them...either way replacement is probably the best option...

you can swap the hot and cold valves over and see if this fixes the problem as it sound like your cold valve is faulty but not the hot valve.

Washer- Hot water wont stop flowing

you will have to replace the multi valve inside the washer where the lines come in, not too hard if you can use tools and find all the hold own bolts/ screws. the part can be a little pricey so you may want to take it to a repair shop. make sure that you UNPLUG first!

Problem stated is not clear. You can clarify. Could be the drain pump operation and sometimes from the flow meter itself. The first thing to check is to drop the bottom panel and make sure the drain filter is clean. It sits right in front and just unscrews. Make sure to have enough towels on hand to soak up the water that is left in the tub. After you have checked this make sure both water valves are turned on, clear the error by pressing pause/cancel twice. Check to make sure the drain hose is not kinked and that there is no siphon problem.(Check your pump too now that you've opened up) If the error still returns after checking the above, the next thing to suspect is the flow meter itself. This sits right in line with the water inlet valves. It's just a reed valve that measures the amount of water entering the washer and monitors the pressure switch. You can access it by removing the top and it will be on the left side in line with the inlet valve. Look for holes in this tube, change if any.

    Hotpoint washer , top load

This sounds like a faulty water valve. Water is coming in the cold water valve when it shouldn't. If the machine has an automatic temp control make sure it is turned off.
