Question about Intuit QuickBooks: Pro 2005 for PC
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM...wasted the good portion of my day trying to find a "functional" copy of Macromedia Flash Player 7 to download, apparently this version has issues as I found numerous downloads to "FIX" this version 7...
Anyway, the person that suggested "Ignore" it...WORKED.
I opened the contents of the CD from Windows Explorer to View All Files on CD looking as suggested to see if the Macromedia version was on the disk and found the executable file instead so I clicked on it and this time a grey box popped up with "Ignore/Quit/Retry" I hit retry over and over then finally Ignore.
Nothing happened at all so I clicked on the QuickBooks Icon "setup.exe" it took a while scrolling and scrolling but appearing to be doing nothing really AND FINALLY IT WENT FORWARD WITH THE PROGRAM INSTALLATION...
Open your CD to view and pick your own files to open rather than allowing Auto Run to NOT do it's job.
By the way, this is on my Win XP PC, I tried also on Vista but I'm sure this software is old enough that it will function better on XP especially if it thinks it requires an totally outdated version of Macromedia Flash Player that is now up to version TEN...

Depending on the version of QuickBooks you are installing, it may require the flash player for some of it's help functions. Typically, the flash player the program requires is included on the cd.
There can be instances where you already have a later version, but the program is not reognizing it. This may indicate that the Flash registry entries are not in the Windows registry properly, and the Macromedia Flash needs to be reinstalled.
If you have already installed the program once, and the Flash installed, you may get an error message about needing to install, or that it cannot install the files named ************. In this case, you may try ignoring through the message.
If worst comes to worst, explore the cd, copy the Qbooks folder to your desktop. Inside the folder, you will find the Install file and the installation should go through.

Open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then clickTroubleshooting. Under Programs, click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
Follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.
If you cannot install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the troubleshooter, browse to the program's setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The troubleshooter is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.
