Question about Sony SLV-D950 DVD Player/VCR
Unit shows "------" where time is usually displayed. Also can hear a wiring sound inside machine. Not sure if it's worth fixing but would like to keep teh unit to play videos as thinking about buying a dvd recorder. Any clues what it might be

no reset, the infred led inside the unit are bad and need to be replaced common problem, they are located on the ends of the tape mech.

I'm afraid you are dealing with a weakened Laser on the unit. The cost vs. benefit ratio of fixing this unit is not worthwhile.
You will find that there are newer versions of this device on the market less expensive than what you paid for the unit you have now.

everyone who bought a sony DVDplayer/video cassette recorder SLV-D370P should contact sony and complain. Then, we should all sue sony for everything they got!!! I'll never waste my money on sony again.
