Re: re: flash drive
First thing to do is to connect the flash drive to your computer via USb port, then if the flash drive is already detected and computer is done installing the driver for it, Just double click Mycomputer icon then you should see there the flash drive, double click on the flash drive then after that you can just copy the pics from your computer and paste it to the flash drive...
Note if the falsh drive is not detected by the computer try to connect it on a different USb port and hopefully it will be detected that time...

You need to plug back in to mac. Th drive is formatted as MAC there for can only work with mac. If your pix are .jpg you can save them to a flash drive and put them on a PC. If not you will need to convert them to windows friendly format before you can copy them to your PC.
I am a little puzzled (from Manchester). I think you are saying that this drive is an external drive powered by usb connection to your pc. If this is so, have you tried it on another pc? I assume you are getting the "USB Device not recognised" message when plugged in. Try plugging it into the usb ports on the backplate (if it is a tower pc that is). If all else fails then try and download a linux (ubunto) distro and burn to dvd. Boot your pc from the cd and linux will appear as your desktop. now plug in your drive and if it opens ok then copy the contents to your original drive in the pc. If all goes well you can then delete the partition on the usb drive and when back into windows you can format the drive and if lucky you can copy back the pics back onto it. If this does not work then the drive is shafted. The only way to get the data from it is to give it to a data recovery company who will charge the earth but at least you will have the pics.
Hello my drive just flashed lights quickly and I knew that what it was doing wasn't the normal. I just disassembled the drive and the Hard drive is in working condition when I tested it in my computer, sooo the chassis was screwed up, thus it needs a new external housing, and it's a really sad deal that something so simple isn't fixed by them bastards @ western digital, they told me to go to one of their two certified groups for "data recovery" which I saw one site say "starting @ 645$" so I said screw that!
So now I have to either live with this being internal or buy a new case, though I love the functionality of this case: esata, 2 firewire, and usb 2.0.... what I shame that I'll have to ditch it...
Try using Windows Explorer to copy them. I'll try to help you out.
When you plug the drive in and a window pops up, select "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer". If they show up in the right pane as thumbnails, select View>Details from the menu at the top.
Left click the top picture, then scroll all the way down to the bottom. Press and hold the <Shift> key, then left click the last picture in the list. This should highlight all the files.
Right click on any of the pics, then go down to "Send to...". This opens several choices, but you probably should choose "My Documents". This will copy all of your pics into your My Documents folder.
Once you get them there you can move them to your My Pictures folder in much the same way.
