Question about Boston Acoustics MicroMedia Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Power supply/ no output voltage

Hello: i have a boston acoustics BA 735 p/c spkr system, the oem pwr sply does not work, checked for voltage at plug, set my meter to, < 50 v ac.
The power supply is model #DK 1201A5, input 120vac,output 12vac, 1500ma.
The power supply input on the back of the bass spkr module is 12v ac/dc,,there is no diagram showing polarity.
My question is : although the oem power supply is a ac input and ac output and the bass module indicates 12v ac/dc on the input,,does this mean that i can use a replacement pwr sply rated at 120v ac input and 12v dc output, or do i need a pwr sply with 120v ac-12v ac ?
thx,, tony

I have old Boston BA735 digital speakers that I am trying to get to work with a new HP PC. Do I need drivers? There are 6 places to plug in speaker cables on the back of the PC. Which ones do I use?

Many of the new sound cards and especially sound cards on OEM do not support digital speakers without buying additional connectors. (Not sure why. I have these same great speakers for years and they are wonderful.
- Check if your sound card ha an SPDIF connection option. - Check the speakers in the device manager to see if you can toggle the "digital" option. - I also have read that some versions of the BA 735 have an analog option on the back of the subwoofer if you need to bypass digital. (mine don't, so I don't know if this is accurate)

I am looking for a power cord for the BA 735 speakers

Attached is a link to a list of Boston Acoustic speakers a/c adapters. You will just need to model number of your adapter to find the correct one. These items are listed on Ebay. Ebay generally offers the most cost effective option for purchasing items like this.

No sound coming out of speakers green light on speakers is on

The BA 735 Speakers I have are purely digital and will only work if your soundcard has a digital output, will not work through the normal analogue green socket .

No sound

Try plugging in earphones to see if the problem is the speakers or the output from your computer. Also, your computer output may be low power output for powered speakers and your speakers are not compatable. You may also be plugged in to the wrong output on your computer.

735 speakers

Use the "Analog In" jack on the sub-woofer and NOT the " Digital In". That's when they start working.
sumother set of these SAME speakers DOES NOT have an "Analog In" jack. So give them to a local thrift shop.

note: Boston makes 2 different speaker sets with the same name,
BA 735: one with and one without the "Analog In" jack.
